Terry did what he said he was going to do for the price he quoted us.

Terry and an experienced carpenter, Curtis, met us at the house for us estimate. The estimate was to remodel the kitchen. Terry and Curtis knew what we wanted and seemed knowledgeable. We discussed other upgrades we wanted to have done, but we would do them some other time. We haven't seen Curtis since. Terry worked up an estimate for the kitchen and included the other upgrades we wanted for a total package deal. Terry convinced us to get the other upgrades done now since we weren't moved in yet and he could use other rooms in the house to stage equipment. Based on the recommendation we got of Terry from a colleague and checking with the better business bureau we decided to do the package deal. While work was going on at the house things were progressing nicely, but then Terry told us that he was over budget. He said he was over by $5600 of his own money. Yikes! Terry said he wasn't going to complete the job, but he was not charging us the $5600 he supposedly lost. The job was far from complete, the vinyl siding was not finished and the counters were left bare without granite. During the job he did discuss how expensive various items were and on more than one occasion I asked him if the costs were covered and he said yes. To get the vinyl finished we had to pay the vinyl man $910 and the granite counters were $3710. Terry has yet to produce receipts proving his cost overrun which leads us to believe that he can't. Whether or not he actually went over budget is not the problem. Terry agreed to complete the job at that price and the work is not finished.
