The first treatment lasted a few days, and the second treatment caused me to break out in fever blisters all over my mouth area, which was very painful. I called her to let her know I needed a refund since it wasn?t working and I wasn?t willing to go through the blisters again. She agreed to refund $300 as long as she did not do any more touch ups on me, but after a couple of months I still did not have my refund. I felt that was tacky that she would not touch up my other services she has done for me in the past. She explained she was in the middle of moving.
Later, I received a letter from her explaining she would not be returning my money since the thinks I should have taken medication for my blisters, and that she believes she performed the service to the best of her abilities. The eyebrow and eye liner was okay when I had that performed, but she blamed the mistakes on the fact that my husband was distracting her. When it comes to the lip liner, she first she said she takes care of her customers and felt she owed me a refund, and later on she said she felt she fulfilled her contract and changed her mind on the refund. The health department said she hasn?t answered their calls or turned in her operating licenses and will be going to her new location tomorrow to see what is going on.

Response from Derma Enhancement
"Regarding request for refund on uncompleted Lipliner procedure for Member. When the member decided to have her lips lined I ask her if she had ever had fever blisters. She acknowledged that she had. I advised her, as I do all my clients who are having this procedure, to phone her doctor and get a prescription to prevent and outbreak. She chose not to follow my advice. She said that she had and outbreak after the second session on her lips. She called me and said that she no longer wanted to continue and to just send her a refund. She wanted it right away because they needed it for their vacation. I needed to look back at her records. Fever blisters can result in loss of color. I did not see the member after that second session so I don’t know what the results were. I felt, after reviewing her record that I had more than completed my obligation to her and did not owe her a refund. I never told her that I owed her a refund as she stated in her complaint. I am willing to work to achieve a desired result with all my clients, as I would have with her. She chose not to follow directions. I have been performing these procedures for 21 years and have never had a problem with anyone. I have earned the respect of physicians, beauty professionals as well as thousands of clients. I do treat my clients fairly and I expect to be treated fairly, too. I did not make a mistake on any of her procedures as she stated. She “loved” her brows and eyes. Her husband’s distractions were very annoying. He wanted to hover over us and tell me how to do my job. She finally told him to get out, that he was distracting me. She told me how he was very controlling and smothering with her, and how she had lost all her friends because of him. She even asked me if I thought she should divorce him. I feel I should send her a bill for listening to all her complaining and for having him standing over us telling me how to do my job. She referred to my being “tacky” for refusing to see her in the future for touch ups, I think her complaining about her personal life and trying to get my opinion about it, was “tacky”. Regarding her call to the health department, I have to notify them and fill out a relocation form along with a check for the Relocation Inspection. I did this and even spoke to the inspector, about the details of the layout of the new space. She said that she would call me to set up an inspection, which she did on August 14, 2012. I was given my new license. I have no idea what the member was talking about. Someone was not being honest about that conversation. The inspector had no problem getting in touch with me! Had the member followed my directions, her results may have been different. Her procedure was completed by her choice, not mine. I will not give her a refund. Sincerely, Mary Kaleal I am attaching a copy of the letter which was mailed to the member with her receipt. $400 for the lipliner and No Charge for the brow touch up. Dear Member, Looking back at your records, I found that I only did lipliner ($400) not full lipcolor ($600). On October 10, 2011, I did a brow touch-up for $150. On Feb. 9th 2012, I did your first lipliner procedure. At that time, I told you that you needed to take a prescription for fever blisters since you said that you do get an outbreak sometimes. I did a brow touch up also, at no charge. On March 7 2012 I did your second lipliner procedure and went over your brows again at no charge because your husband wanted them wider. You didn’t take the instructed medication for your lips and said you got cold sores & had no color and ask for a refund. I was willing to do more sessions on your lips as some people are a little more resistant to color. I feel I have fulfilled my obligation & will not refund any money. Mary Kaleal"
