The technician was dispatched very quickly to our home when the receptionist heard that our air conditioner was not working. The technician diagnosed the problem and provided several price/efficiency options for repair/replacement. The following morning, we called with our decision and the work was scheduled for later the same day. The two technicians stayed until the work was complete and the air conditioning was working. At all times, the technicians were professional, courteous, and efficient. I do highly recommend Capital and will call on them again when needed.

Mr. Short arrived on time and handed me a business card at the door.  He was very polite and professional throughout the visit.  He placed covers on his shoes so as not to track dirt in the house.  I greatly appreciate anytime a business takes the time to do this. I showed him where I noticed water marks in the ceiling and asked that he check the air unit in the attic for possible leaks.  He did not find any leaks in the air unit, but took time to discuss possible roof line leaks that could be causing it.  I asked if while he was here he would go ahead and service the heating unit. I asked a few questions about servicing the unit.  He was very helpful and thorough.  I will use capital heating and cooling again. I was very pleased with Mr. Short's knowledge, professionalism and willingness to discuss options and answer my questions.

After having several very disappointing transactions with my home warranty company (AHS) and the companies that they sent out, I called a friend who had previously done heating and AC work for me and asked  who he would recommend and he said Capital Heating and Air. I called on Christmas Eve and the owner offered to come out and look at my system if I was going to be without heat over the holidays and I told him that we would be fine until later. An appointment was made, their representative came out, an assessment was made and an estimate was given for replacing my main unit. The estimate was fair and an appointment was made for replacing the unit. When the day came, the temperature was not supposed to get above freezing and I was concerned about getting heat before nightfall. I need not to have worried as three technicians came out and had the new system in service before three o'clock in the afternoon. After the positive experience that we had with  having the main system replaced, we decided to have the upstairs unit replaced also by Capital. They were prompt, clean, courteous, knowledgeable, and didn't mind being asked questions. Before they left, they went over the operation of the new systems and answered any questions that we had. Though we have only had the new systems for a couple of weeks, at this time I would not hesitate to recommend this company.

He was very professional. I had someone come in through the home warranty and they had absolutely no idea what they were doing. the house was freezing and no one knew how to fix it until capital came along. He found 2 leaks and at last the house is not freezing anymore

.discount for 5% for Seniors. I called Capital and asked them if they could give me a better discount, Tommy the owner offered me a 200.00 discount. Which I really appreciated. When the gentleman came out Wednesday Sept. 25th. They were nice, and punctual, and efficient. Jim volunteered me a rebate form with Alagasco for 200.00. I won't know if I am eligible for weeks. Hopefully.
However, I won't really know how the heat unit works until cold weather arrives. The crew was very helpful in cleaning up all the trash from their work area and started and tested the system to my satisfaction.
This was a very expensive project for me. But I wanted someone with good reference. My son Darrel Holcombe who owns The Sanctuary Christian Book Store in Alabaster, Alabama referred Capital to me because they service his Air and Heat. I then went on Angies List to get their grade and referrals..
Being a Christian I always give thanks to my heavenly Father for his blessings. I am grateful for my little place of abode where I have lived for almost 50 years. It's getting old and in need of repair. It is good to have Angies list to check on my needs and know I can find someone reliable and efficient. My daughter Tina Fernandez has used Angies List many times and it was her advice that I join.
Blessings on Angies List and those that affiliates with her.

Capital was very professional. The work was performed on schedule. The finished work was neat and clean. During the job, Capital did not make or leave messes at the work site. As with any large project, there were some modifications in plans that had to be made. Capital was very cooperative about changes and modifications. The AC and heating units Capital recommended have functioned very efficiently and have significantly reduced my energy costs. I have worked with a number of contractors, and Capital is one of the best.

They were professional and great to work with from start to finish. Tommy met with us at the house, toured the house and basement, asked us questions and then emailed us a quote with details of the work to be done. He sent two different quotes so we could choose what capacity units we wanted but did not try to sell us on the higher capacity. We opted to go with the 2 ton units/13 seer (Trane systems). The day before the install. Laura called to confirm the installation. The next day at 7:00 AM, we had 5 van's show up at the house, ready to go! They were careful to keep the house clean as they removed and moved in the heater unit in the attic and cleaned up after they were finished.
The house is now cooler then it has been in 10 years - can actually feel cool air blasting from the vents in the rooms. I would definitely use them again - we signed up for a bi-annual maintenance inspection after we asked and they suggested starting this next year - we did not need to pay up front but can pay after the work is performed.
They went above and beyond the call of duty - even pointing out we might have a leak in the roof and to watch it during the next rain. The bill was exactly what was quoted!

Cleaned outside condensors (upstairs/downstairs). Removed tops of both units, washed fan blades and filters inside with a cleaning fluid, cleaned outside ventilation grids with fluid and hose, removed leaves, pine needles, dirt from bottom of both units, checked quantity and temperature of  refrigerant in both units, checked electrical boxes and connections. Checked/cleaned both inside Heat/AC units and replaced filters, checked attic unit's overflow prevention valve and evaporator pan, and put bleach/or similar in drain pipes. Did final inspection of both units and made certain that both units were working properly. Great job!!!

It was time for yearly tune-up service on my A/C units, so I called Capital after seeing them on Angie's List.  The technician (Bill Short) was very professional and very thorough.  It took him about ten minutes after his arrival to find a puncture in the clean tubing that started leaking last year. (The company I used last year could not find the leak after two consecutive visits and I was assured it was only due to condensation - I knew they weren't right).  Bill then showed me that one of my outside units was freezing up and determined that this was most likely due to dirt clogging the m-coil on the downstairs unit.  He quoted the price to clean out the coil and as he cleaned it he took before and after photos to show me.  He also found other issues, such as the drain on the upstairs unit needing to be propped up, which he fixed, and also found a ref. line that was not covered at the outside wall and repaired that.  He installed a freeze control on the downstairs unit and told me that the downstairs unit supply and return are not large enough and that I have a 3-ton furnace, 4-ton coil and a 3.5 ton outdoor unit, and that all of these things have made my unit less efficient, but the fixes he made today will help it to run much more efficiently than it has in the past.  I could not be more pleased.  I have lived here for 10 years and have had my units serviced every year, and noone that had ever serviced them before had been as knowledgeable and as thorough as Bill was.  Bill was here for several hours - I sincerely appreciated his attention to detail and hard work.  I feel that the cost of the service I received today was money well-spent.

I have a Generac generator that needed service after a couple of years of neglect on my part.  Capital is a preferred service provider for Generac and I contacted them to schedule an appointment.  The technician who arrived on time had 20 years experience with Generac generators and was very knowledgeable and paitient explaining details to me about the operation and maintenance of my generator.  I had previously contact Sentry Heating and Air and they told me I needed to replace the control board to the tune of about $900.  Capital dispelled that quickly, did a routine service, fired up the generator and told me that the control boards almost never need to be replaced.  Capital also set me up with a yearly service plan to keep me from neglecting the generator moving forward and their prices are better than others in town.  I highly recommend Capital for generator service and needs.

They put in our generator and do a yearly check. They came last year to do a service.  I can't remember the exact date.  They are wonderful. We personally met the owner. The same people always come out. They are due to service our generator soon.

I requested bids/estimates from 3 different companies.  During the estimate process I found out the company that had installed the old system had installed a 3 1/2 AC unit on top of a 3 "ton" furnace.  In doing that they had increased the fan speed to keep the AC unit from freezing up. The first company doing an estimate suggested just the AC unit (4700 + dollars).  The second company wanted to sell me a 4 ton furnace and 3 1/2 ton AC unit ($ 6700+ dollars).  I called Capital based on the Angies List rating............  Tommy Oswalt, the owner/GM returned my call promptly and scheduled a visit.  He came out and quickly determined the same mismatch the others had.  HOWEVER........... he took time to closely examine the duct work sizes and came to the conclusion that the correct size for the house was indeed a 3 ton unit.  He offered to work up an offer for replacing both the AC and furnace with 3 ton units which he (and I) both believed was the original correct size of the system.......... he said that if I went with him he would send out a tech to make detailed measurements to determine EXACTLY was needed from a standpoint and we would proceed from there.  A NOTE HERE: I questioned the second company rep what the correct sizing should be, i. e., wouldn't both units being a 3 ton size work?............ all I got was a "Well, what do you think? question and no action to confirm the sizing.
Tommy's estimate was $4900 TOTAL for installing both a new AC unit AND a furnace, both Trane units, with efficiencies equal to what the other companies had priced.  My wife and I decided to go with Capital based on Tommy's detailed explanations, answers to my questions and attitude.  True to his word he sent out a tech (Tim) to do measurements.  After the study was complete Tommy called me and we went over the findings.  Sure enough the 3 ton units were the correct sizing.  I also asked about an air cleaner for the system.   He said he would put one in for another $400.......... normally an $800 job if done later.  Based on that we scheduled the work.  It was done the same week.
The techs who arrived (Michael and Jason) were clean, well groomed, and very polite.  Both were dressed in neat Capital uniforms.  They started at 8:30 AM and were finished by 4:30 PM the same day.  They kept us advised of the progress of the work through the day.  After finishing Jason took me on a "walk-through" of the work, explaining what they had done, and what I needed to do in terms of maintenance.
The system has performed flawlessly since installed.  We received a very nice follow up letter  from Tommy Oswalt thanking us for choosing them. My wife and I were VERY impressed with the caliber of management and employees we interfaced with.   I recommend Capital Heating and Cooling as an HVAC provider.  We will be using them again.
