It was after hours so I gladly paid for that, $220. No complaints with that. He was here about an hour, maybe a little less. He checked everything and replaced two capacitors. My bill was $487.00. I knew it was $220.00 to come out and tell me what's wrong, so I was surprised, and I paid it, and when he left, I looked up online the capacitors they replaced. One of them. The same exact model they installed in my unit would cost me, retail: $23.35, for the highest priced one. They charged me $191.00 That's a little less than 900% markup, to take it out of the truck and screw it in the unit. The other capacitor cost me $76.00. It would cost me retail, $12.00, for the most expensive one. I got a break there. Only paid 600% markup on that one. I presume Superior is getting these for less than retail and they have to pay labor, which I thought was covered in the $220.00 for showing up. I understand they have to make a profit. But 600% - 900% markup?!?! Seems pretty excessive to me. It was a very expensive lesson I learned. Next time I'll have "whoever' tell me what I need, and how much it will cost, before I just let them go on and replace things without telling me how much.

"Thank you for your honest review. You spelled out the good and the bad with your experience with our on call technician. I realize the lack of understanding on pricing by the general public. It is very hard to understand the true cost of running a business with inventory on each truck, truck repairs/replacement, gasoline, tools; taxes that must be paid, sales, income, property, tags, payroll, social security, medicaid; insurance, workman's comp, general liability, vehicle; rent, advertising, building maintenance, utility cost etc....... I am sorry that you feel you were over charged. We work off of a flat rate pricing program that takes all of those things into account. I appreciate the good comments on our professionalism, punctuality, quality and responsiveness as well as the negative ones on pricing. I thank you for your business and we will be more than happy to take care of you in the future should you need us. Joey Usery President Superior Heating & Air Inc."

I called Superior Heating & Air, and they sent a tech out the next day. The tech found a leak on the service ports on the refrigerant lines, promptly fixed them, and added two pounds of refrigerant to the system. The total time of the service call was around an hour. After the tech left, there was a significant difference in the cooling of the house within twenty minutes. If I have any problems with my HVAC and need a tech, I will definitely be giving Superior Heating & Air a call.

I have been using them for years. I pay annually for a spring and winter checkup. They are reliable. I know the owner and all of them. I had one fired six years ago that did poor quality work. He let my horses out without doing anything about it. I called and told them I didn't want him on my property and then he was fired.

One person usually comes out.

Their service was great; but they should look into the little finishing details. They should’ve maybe swept up a little bit more in the garage. And when they were reinstalling the trim they should’ve made it look even.

They were supposed to take care of my ac. I paid them $180.00 per year to service my air conditioner. When they came out they did not clean it and they just went through the motions. Then when my ac stopped working, they told me I needed to get a brand new unit. I called a different company for a 2nd opinion and the other company fixed my ac for $120.00. All they did was check my duck work, clean the unit, and added Freon. I will never trust Superior Heating and Air. They were trying to sell me a brand new ac when all it needed was a tune up.

"Our first priority to our customers is to repair the system back to factory specifications. In Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s case, we gave her the cost of replacing the indoor coil to save her future repair costs and avoidable problems with other components of her a/c system. We could have simply pumped freon into a system with a known leaking indoor coil and never mentioned the real problem, resulting in shortening the lifespan of her system. If she had chosen to put freon in it, her bill would have been around $250.00. I operate this business like I would want someone to deal with me and have for the last 13 years. I can understand not wanting to repair a system correctly or purchase a new one when it cost beneficial in the long run to do so. Heck, I own a heating and air company and I do not like to repair or replace systems @ my own home, but it is a part of home ownership and I have bite the bullet the same as my customers. It is unfortunate to have to reply to false claims on Angie's list, but like other social media in today's world, it is easy to throw out accusations to the general public while hiding behind a computer in the safety of your own home. I have pictures of a clean system and a leaking indoor coil @ Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s home. Our technicians take pictures with their cell phones in case there is a question about the work to be performed. Joey Usery President Superior Heating & Air Inc."

When I woke, the house seemed cooler than usual and got colder as the morning progressed. Checked thermostat and it was blank. Called Superior Heat & Air, which I had used before, and they scheduled a service call during a specific block of time the same afternoon. Got a call when they were on their way. Justin diagnosed and repaired the problem with my unit and I had a toasty house again in a little over an hour. I also appreciated Justin's practical advice for dealing with my aging unit. I will use and recommend them again.

My air conditioning went out with temps hovering around 100 degrees. Superior Heating & Air was able to come the next morning. Technician diagnosed problem, picked up part, and had my cool back in about an hour.

In the summer of 2007, Superior Air installed a brand new A/C unit for the prior owner of our house.  The prior owner moved out after a year and a half and the house was vacant for a year.  In 2010, we bought the house (a prime selling point listed was a "practically new" unit.  The Rheem unit lasted all of a few months before breaking down.  We called Superior AIr as the prior owner had passed on his paperwork from the purchase.  They came out and said the blower was broken and it would be $1,000 to replace it. The unit had function for less than 2 years.  We asked how they could charge us $1,000 of labor (the part was still covered under the manufacture's warranty) when they installed the unit less than 3 years ago.  They explained that their 5 year service warranty does NOT transfer to new owners.
I am an attorney.  Putting in a contract that a warranty does not transfer is legal but is not the standard of business.  In fact, when we had two other estimates from other contractors in the area they BOTH first recommended that we call the business who installed the A/C unit since it was almost brand new and should still be covered under a service warranty.
Fast forward five years.  We have now gone through two blowers and are about to have to pay for a second thermal expansion valve.  I called and talk to "Joey" again to explain that he had really sold us a lemon and we have paid more than the a/c unit is worth to fix it and are about to pay more.  He AGAIN claimed he owed us no duty because he had done business with the prior owner and not us.  This sort of contractual clause is legal.  It is just not ethical.  In fact, I think it borders on a deceptive trade practice.  Most consumers expect warranties to transfer with ownership--the normal standard of business is for warranties to transfer.
In my experience, Superior Air does NOT stand behind their products.  I would be afraid to trust a company that used sneaky contractual provisions to get out of their responsibilities.  "Joey" suggested as an attorney I should have read the "fine print" of the contract and made the prior owner somehow extend a warranty from his pocketbook.  Ridiculous.  Pouring over warranties is not part of the contract process when buying a home.  We trust in the good faith of companies to act ethically.  Buyer Beware.

"While the internet is a wonderful thing in most cases, it also allows individuals to post totally FALSE accusation without repercussions. There are very few things in her review that are factual: We did installed a system in the home that she now owns on 8/27/2007. We had a preventative service agreement with the original owner in 2008 and 2009. I cannot tell you when the house sold, but I can tell you that we had no contact with the new owner until 6/13/2012 which would have put the age of the unit @ 4 years and 10 months. (A far cry from 2010 and a few months after her purchase according to her review.) She was told on 6/13/2012 that the warranty was not transferable to her and there would be a charge for replacing the failed motor ($730.00, which again is not $1000.00 as her review states.) According to her review and the phone conversation that I had with her yesterday, she is a lawyer. I do not know if that is true or not, but she repeated it several times, I will assume to ensure I was aware of her profession. I am unimpressed with the fact that she is a “lawyer” and doesn’t have the moral character to tell the truth. I cannot tell you what type of problems that she has had with the system after she refused our services/repair on 6/13/2012. I also cannot tell you the qualifications of the heating and air company/individual that she has hired in the last 2+ years to work on her system. What I can tell you is that I have records of every time we have been on the property to install, service or repair the system located @ her home along with records of every other customer that we have serviced in the last 12 years. You can read the other 65 reviews that we have on Angie’s list and get a pretty clear picture of my character and the character of my business. Sincerely, Joey Usery President Superior Heating and Air Inc."

Although it was not an emergency (didn't affect units working ability at all) they showed up within 24 hours to put in the drain for us. We were trying to sell the unit and the inspector said new rules required the drain line to be insulated. The gentleman who came checked it out and installed the pipe insulation in about 10 minutes. We have also had them install a unit in our home and have a maintenance agreement with them to service our unit yearly.  We have been very pleased with their work.

We woke up to a cold house, and after trying to reset the furnace ourselves, we call Superior.  I had called two other places, and being Black Friday, I think they were considering this a holiday.  So when Superior not only answered,  but scheduled my appt. for the same morning, I was ecstatic.   Superior's receptionist said they would call before the tech was headed out, and they did.  The service tech, Chad, arrived about 10 minutes later.  He was very polite and had diagnosed the problem (we needed anew ignitor) within 15 minutes.  All in all, my repair took a total of 45 minutes.  I would definitely recommend this business!
