Insulate4Less Inc

Description of Work: Per a TVA energy audit recommendation in May, 2010, I wanted to have my floors insulated. I contacted our heating and cooling company about whether they could do this for me or if they could recommend another company to do it. They recommended Allied Termite and Pest Control in Hartselle, AL, for the job. I contacted Chad Walker, the owner, about the job, and he subcontracted it to Shane Johnson of Insulate 4Less, Inc., also of Hartselle. Shane and a helper came to my house July 14, 2010, worked for about one and a half hours, and told me the job had been completed. Since the insulation was to have been installed in my crawl space, I trusted them to have done the job correctly and did not go under the house to inspect the job myself. We began having all our flooring replaced in December, 2010. The living room and kitchen floors needed reinforced to be level enough to take ceramic tile properly. In this process, they also had to replace the subfloor in the living room because it was molded and mildewed. When they pulled up the old plywood, I saw that there was no insuation under the living room floor, and the floor workers told me then that there wasn't any insulation under the kitchen or laundry room floors either. I contacted Chad Walker about the problem, he said he would contact Shane to find out why the insulating had not been done, and make sure the job was finished for me. It is now March 15 and I am still waiting for the insulation to be put in. In the meantime, another insulating company has come out to see what needs to be done. This man reported that two bedrooms also had not had the floors insulated, meaning that the only room which actually has any floor insulation at all is the master bedroom, which is directly over the entry to the crawl space! I have filed complaints with the local Better Business Bureau against both Chad Walker and Shane Johnson. In a "rebuttal" from Shane which the BBB sent me last week, he all but admitted that he and Chad had intentionallly underinsulated my house and he had only put insulation in the area I see directly if I looked into the crawl space! In short, they have perpetrated a scam on me! I paid $985 for this job, and the insulation I received for this amount is worth far less. Stay away from these companies!!
