See above. Another insulating company will be here tomorrow morning to properly do the insulation for me and they will be paid by Valley H&C. Chad Walker/Shane Johnson owe Valley H&C $985, in my opinion.
Description of Work: Per a TVA energy audit recommendation in May, 2010, I wanted to have my floors insulated. I contacted the heating and cooling company which had just replaced my heat pump and asked them if they could do the insulation or recommend another company for the job. They recommended Allied Termite and Pest Control, owned by Chad Walker, in Hartselle, AL. I contacted Chad about the job, he came out to do an estimate for the insulation and on July 14, 2010, Shane Johnson of Insulate 4Less, Inc., also in Hartselle, showed up at my house to do the job, having been subcontracted by Chad Walker (Chad never notified me that he was going to use a subcontractor, by the way). Shane and his helper went under my house, worked for about one and one half hours, and then told me the job was finished. At the time I thought they had done an unusually quick, efficient and neat job, and assumed it had been done properly. In December, 2010, we began having all our floors replaced. The living room and kitchen floors needed reinforcement to make them level enough for ceramic tile installation, and the subfloor in the living room had to be replaced due to the presence of black mold and mildew. When the workers cut away the old plywood from the living room floor, it was revealed that there was no insulation under the living room floor, and the workers told me there wasn't any under the kitchen or laundry room floors either. I immediately called Chad Walker about this, and he said he would contact Shane Johnson and have the problem taken care of. It is now March 15, 2011, and the insulation has not been done yet! I have filed complaints with the local Better Business Bureau against both Chad Walker and Shane Johnson. Last week I received a "rebuttal" from Shane Johnson through the BBB in which he states that he was told by Chad Johnson to insulate only the part of the floor I could immediately see if I looked in the crawl space opening, which is located under our master bedroom. In other words, these two meant to intentionally scam me! Last week a representative from another insulating company came to my house to see what needs to be done (they will be paid to complete the job by Valley Heating and Cooling, who originally recommended Allied to me). This man told me that two bedrooms also had no floor insulation, which means that the only rooms which have any floor insulation at all are the master bedroom and main bathroom.
