I had TV in my RV. Our son had installed a 30amp outlet in his garage for when we visited so we could have A/C for our unit. His electrician installed breaker as double pole (i.e., pulling 220 volts). When I plugged in and threw breaker, there was a pop and smoke came pouring from TV. I shut everything down and the TV would not operate properly. I took unit into our RV repair facility in AL and explained what happened. I was assured their technician could check. He told me TV was fried. But when I got the old TV home and plugged it in, it came on, and picture came through. Lake City TV said they could check. Although their shop was crammed with TVs in various stages of repair, they said they would look and call before doing any work. Same afternoon, I got a call that it was the power supply, slightly burned and recommending replacement to avoid problems and potential electric "burned" smell. I authorized the fix and for $90, I had a good as new TV; this was cheaper than a new TV for over $225.Lake City TV was quick, honest, and professional. They work on all sorts of TVs. I am told they are one of only 3 TV repair facilities (independent) in NE Alabama. The other 2 are in Huntsville, over an hour away.
Description of Work: Flat screen TV experienced electric surge. One technician told us TV was dead. Took it to Lake City TV and they would charge $45 to look and then let us know. Upon examination, the power supply had been damaged and could be replaced. Total cost for unit and replacement was $90. Estimate came back within 6 hours, repair completed in 24 hours.
