Trash, equipment all over yard. Foreman (Roberto) sneaked in on the 9/15 to remove clutter; did not ask to see the shower. Left paper all over yard. Roberto too busy to come 17-21. Came back 24-28. Shower awful! Lola (2nd in charge, my guess) on Oct. 4. Ordered parts to fix. 15th was day to fix, no show, did not order parts. Russell, owner, finally called on 18th, said he would be here on 19th. No show or calls. 6 weeks pass. F on Angie's List on 19th. Russell was here on 10/22. Friend of mine also agreed to fix shower on 10/26. I left town on 10/3 to keep grandchildren. Returned on 11/5. Door was installed. Showered 11/11/12 standing in water. Called GFC on 13-14; no return call. Finally work scheduled for 1/9/13. Russell ugly on phone, can not talk to him. Received lifetime warranty on 3/12/13. Paid on 5/4/13, nine months after starting work, $1684. I subtracted $600 for floor repair & $300 to replace drain. Original cost $2584. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years the master shower was out of order. Now it is 9/21/13 and the grout is cracking in the corners. Will call on 23rd. I will let you know the outcome. This company is awful!
Description of Work: I hired him to install 2 tile showers. Paid $1292 on 8/13/2012 - First down payment for guest shower; started work on 8/14 or 8/15; completed work on 8/22 or 8/23 Paid $1292 on 9/4/2012 - Down payment for master shower; started work on 9/11; completed work on 9/14 at 10 am

The member contracted with Gene’s to install tile in one shower on 8-15-12. Material was ordered at that time, installation was completed on 8-21-12. Some delay in installation was incurred due to structural issues that had to be corrected by her contractor. The member called about “ discolored grout” and we sent our repairmen to job on 9-11-12. He found that the “discolored grout” was actually shadows from light in some areas. He cleaned the grout and the member said she was satisfied with the shower. The second shower was contracted on 9-14-12, material ordered, and then installed on 9-17-12. The member did want this install to begin on 9-10-12 however we did not have all materials in at that time and had to reschedule with her. There was delay resulting from structural problems in this shower which also had to be corrected by her contractor. After the shower was complete, the member contacted us about some concerns. Our representative went to inspect the job and go over her concerns on 9-27-12. Also, the owner of Gene’s met with the member and spoke with her on several occasions in attempts to rectify her one shower in order to please the member. Materials were ordered and work was completed on 10-26-12 – all at NO expense to the member. When complete, the member told our repairman that she was happy with the job. Gene’s also installed stained wood trim, hand buffed the terrazzo floor, and touched up the paint of ceiling in the shower at NO expense to the member. Since Gene’s was not the only trade working on the shower remodels, some of her concerns could have resulted from their work. However Gene’s “punched out” the entire job to accommodate the member. In December, the owner met her again, this time concerning the fact that “her feet were getting wet while showering”. At NO expense to the member, Gene’s removed the entire shower floor and reinstalled with more sloping to the drain. This was completed on 1-10-13. Once again, she told our repairman that she was happy with the job. The member did request that we fix a problem with the shower head that her plumber would not come back to repair because she had stopped payment on his check. Since we are not plumbers, we did not do this repair. When we called in February to request finally payment, the member asked for a “lifetime” warranty for one of the showers. The owner of Gene’s agreed and we mailed and emailed warranty letters to the member. We contracted her again about payment and she said she didn’t like the wording of the letters. We asked her to email us the wording she would prefer and we would change our letter. We are still waiting to hear from her. Gene’s has tried to accommodate all the member’s concerns even though we felt the original jobs were done correctly according to Tile Council of America specifications. We have worked over an extended time frame to accommodate her schedule as best we could. However, since both showers were complete by 10-26-12 and at that point she was satisfied with them, there is no reason her family could not visit on any of the mentioned holidays. Currently, she owes the entire balance of one shower in the amount of $2,584.00 which is the original contracted amount. We have incurred several hundred dollars in additional expenses in an attempt to accommodate the member and do not feel any further credit is due. Gene’s Floor Covering has been in business since 1976 and has always strived for our customers to have complete satisfaction with our work. As with any other customer, we would like for the member to be satisfied with our work and have gone above and beyond in trying to resolve all her concerns.
