He was very professional and a HARD worker. He did the work himself with a helper. They worked long hours. They brought their lunch each day and only broke for a short time to eat without ever leaving the premise. They cleaned up after themselves every day. It was so nice to have workers with the same Christian principles as us. It was an added bonus not to have the beer cans, cigarette butts, cursing and loud music to contend with. I designed the deck I wanted which was a little out of the ordinary. We discussed several options with the ultimate goal being a much larger deck than the original without building over the septic tank.
I was very PICKY! He went out of his way to please me. His bid was slightly higher than others but it was worth it in the end. We did tear down the existing deck to save money but if I had it to do over I would let him do it!! His attention to detail was greater than I would ever have expected. It took a little longer than I anticipated but that was due to his attention to detail and having to wait at times for the inspector before proceeding. I would not hesitate to recommend Mike and I plan to use him in the future for other home improvements.
We obtained 4 estimates for replacing an existing 8x12 deck with a much larger deck. Due to the location of our septic tank it was not easy to decide where to place it. We eventually decided to have 2 decks...a 10x14 where the old deck was with a 12x14 (offset by 6 ft to accommodate the septic tank) joined by a 6 ft opening. Although Mr. Trettle's original estimate was not the lowest, we felt more comfortable choosing him and feel now that is was the right decision. He has a tendency to bid on the high end on the original estimate so there will not be any and quot;surprisesand quot; for the customer which I appreciate. In the long run he may have been as low or lower than the others. Mr. Trettle was a pleasure to work with as were his 2 helpers. They are Christian men and it was so nice not to have to worry about bad language, loud music, cigarette butts, and beer cans everywhere. We got to meet Mrs. Trettle on three occasions which was nice. Mr. Trettle is very meticulous but also very patient and calm/laid back. I am sure we were a pain to work with because of our indecisiveness. He took time to do everything with much attention to detail rather than trying to rush to just get through with the job. He was willing to do anything and everything we asked of him as well as making suggestions that we appreciated. They did more than expected of them. They worked very hard and LONG hours. They even brought their own lunch each day and set under some trees to eat instead of leaving to go less than a mile to one of many air conditioned fast food places! Mr Trettle was very good to stay in touch and communicate regularly and answer emails quickly which some of the others did not! He was quick to arrange for us to see other decks he had built without us even having to ask. The referrals were all very positive in their review of his work. His FB page was very helpful to see before and after pictures. We are very pleased customers and look forward to working with him again. The Franklin's
He was very careful in painting the door and rails to use drop cloths and not leave any stray paint on the bricks or pavement.
