Ted was the general contractor to build our house. From the very beginning it was apparant that Ted's role was to show up on friday and collect his check. He made little or no effort to monitor his employees, subcontractors or their workmanship. The biggest issues are that all the exterior doors have had issues with leaking. We have had numerous attempts to resolve issue but the problem is rooted in the fact that the door frames are not square. Jeldwen represenaitives and their engineers have shown up several times to resolve issue but Ted was a no-show. Another major issue has been with the roofing. Ted handled the roofing thru a subcontractor that is either moved or out of business, regardless we have has leaking issues from the beginning. This is when the story really took an ugly turn. Ted of course was no were to be found on a rainy august day when his employees were here doing inside wood trim work. The painter who was working inside as well called and said that water was pouring inside the playroom. I came as quickly as possible to find no ted but his employess working on trim work. There was no effort to stop or contain leak. I called Ted and told him to stop the inside trim work until the leaking was fixed. He informed me that he was trying to sell a race car engine and would be there when he could. Three hours later he showed up mad that I had stopped his workers he began cursing me in front of my wife. I then informed him we were done and then came toward me saying " he was going to kick my *ss".After that we came to agreement that I would pay final invoice if he would resolve doors and roofing.Since then they would come out and use tar and caulking for quick fixes promising a permanent fix by re-roofing a square around the chimney. I have called Ted for over a year and he continues to say that they were coming but to no availe. In the meantime I have talked with my closing attorney about possible legal actions but he said that would probably be fruitless considering the numerous lawsuites against him. We were new to the area and made the mistake of relying on one friends experience rather than requesting a reference list. Regardless that is why I have been so interested in Angies List after hearing xm radio ads.
