This service occurred about two years ago but it is worth commenting on. I have a Coleman unit that has to be 20+ years old. It looks ugly but since I have lived in this house (8 years at the time of this service) this was only the second issue we had with it. It still works well and my power bill never goes over $130 in the hot summer or cold winter....so why change it. Anyway, my outside heat pump completely frosted over....I had never seen anything like it. I called a few places that couldn't or wouldn't come out. Johnson's in Scottsboro said it couldn't be fixed but they would sell me a new unit. Well, I called Shipman. He stated over the phone what it probably was (I forget now), showed up quickly, and began thawing my pump. I stayed out with him and chatted while he defrosted the unit. Nice guy. He then went to his truck and had the EXACT part that I needed. He told me that his granddad started the business and they never got rid of anything he had. Therefore he has a stock of all kinds of things, new and really old. He is the third generation in his family to do this. I can't remember how long it took, but since we talked the whole time, it didn't seem long. I can't remember the price either but it was maybe around $250...way better than a new unit, which he said I didn't need. It is now two years later and I've not had another problem. I will say, if I need a HVAC repair, Shipman is the one. However, when I do have to buy a new unit, I would love to go with Coleman...too bad Shipman doesn't sell those.

The technician was great. My unit is a package unit 17 years old. He was knowledgeable and did not try to sell me something new. He repaired the unit and did so quickly and professionally.
