I purchased my home in 2011 after living in it for 3 months pipes in the wall started splitting and spewing water in the different places of my home causing significant damage to flooring, walls, and molding you name it. After doing alot of research on this problem i found out a pipe company called CPI durapex (the pipe in my walls) went out of business in 2006 selling to nibco but, the pipe i had in my home was faulty pipe from cpi and many other people have this pipe as as well. Nibco will not take responsibility for this faulty pipe and the builders (benchmark) in this case will not either. So homeowners are stuck with thousands of dollars in repair, in my case on a home that was 7 yrs old should never have had any problem like that. I contacted benchmark very upset i was told there was nothing they would do it wasn't under warranty for that anymore. Unfortunately, the pipe is not the only problem with Benchmark. The siding on my home is coming off and has holes in it, the windows will not open and close properly, i have had electrical problems, drainage problems and my neighbor had the entire kitchens cabinet fall on him, after looking in the cabinet it was only held up with one screw. The list could go on and on rotten exterior door frames in home i recently looked at in baldwin county that were built in 2009. These things are unacceptable. When you buy a home it is a huge investment and something to be proud of but, i feel cheated and like i made a very bad investment. My comment to benchmark would be if you can't build it right don't build it at all. Stand by your product and fix these problems so other home owners do not have to face these problems.
Description of Work: My home was built in 2004. I had to have the entire house re-plumbed in 2011 do to faulty pipe installed in my home by benchmark. This is just one of the many problems myself and most of my neighbors are having.
