Provider ignores communications for days at a time, did not hold up to his end of the bargain and charged us the full deposit AFTER we did the deep cleaning and initiated repairs on the property, expecting payment of full deposit within two weeks of lease signing. After many complaints and inquiries, he scheduled a maintenance man to show up to complete repairs, and maintenance man was a no show after we went out of our way to make sure someone was home for him. No calls, texts, emails, or anything, simply did not show. Very unhappy with the way we are being mistreated by this landlord after already having moved in, cleaned, made repairs, scheduled lawn care, and unpacked! Home has unsafe wiring and is not fit for occupancy in its current condition. Landlord refuses to acknowledge the original verbal agreement, instead defaulting to what he put in the lease that we were not allowed to read before signing because another customer was waiting. Attempts at reminding provider of original agreement and discussing situation have been met with great resistance. I fear our only resolution is going to be dissolution of lease and vacating premises after investing lots of time and money into the property. *******8/9/2013-Steve Humphries had our utilities turned off because of the deposit that wasn't supposed to be owed. A family with young children and a sick mother now has no electricity or water because of this man's pride.************* ********8/26/2103- we are now in the process of fighting his eviction notice in court. Not because we WANT to live in this home, we are already seeking housing elsewhere, having had no utilities for 2 weeks now, but because we want to keep his eviction off of our credit report. He has actually been entering the property while we still have legal possession of it and our personal property still occupies it. We are awaiting a court date. We have discovered that he has been resisting our home on local advertising mediums since at east July 24, long before the rent was ever due. Why on earth would I pay this man a cent of rent when he has made the home unfit for occupation, forcing my family into hotels during the first week of school?!?! We have also learned through research that both partners in this operation have very recently been in trouble with the state board, and were actually found guilty of their charges, having their licenses suspended****** *********12/1/2013- Since my last update, Mr. Humphries sued us after our court date for the eviction. He sued us for almost $5000, and though we answered his claim at the county clerk's office, we never received a court date and he was automatically given a judgement in his favor. We went to the clerk and discovered someone filed our answer in the wrong file, and were told to wait for a new court date, which we still have not received. On November 19, Mr. Humphries filed a garnishment order at the clerk's office, which we received, in spite of not having received our day in court yet. It appears Mr. Humphries has the county clerk's office and officers in his pocket. Crooked system in Florence, I suspect. We are still fighting.....
Description of Work: Provider leased us a home after we bargained with him over exchanging small repairs and deep cleaning on property for deposit.
