This was the third project we did with this contractor. The other two had been small handyman-type projects. We were told the remodel would take approximately two and a half months. Instead, it took over ten months before the remodel was "complete," and we still had to wait another two months before a missing closet door was finally installed (wrong style door kept arriving). We had the impression that we were not a priority for the contractor, despite the $73K price tag. We had many weeks where no one showed up at all for three or four weeks at a time. Even when work was being done, it was usually only one or two days a week, and even that was often on weekends. We tried phone calls to both the contractor and (later) his foreman, texting, many emails requesting a status update, several face-to-face meetings at our request, and withholding payments twice, including one near the end of the project which was supposed to be due upon "completion of scope of work," but which the contractor insisted he could not continue without it, despite there being no electricity, no hot water heater installed, and no gas, among other items. The project is now complete, and we enjoy the new look of the cottage. But, we would never hire Mr. Davis again. It's too bad, because he's really a nice guy and does good work; just not very good at juggling several major projects at once, in my opinion.
