Dowsey Plumbing

Dowsey sent out a technician who stated the problem was the heating strip. A week later, he replaced the heating strip. However, the heat still did not work during the next cold snap. I called Dowsey again, and a different technician came by. He stated that the problem was NOT the heating strip. He stated that he didn't know what was wrong and would "do some research" and call. He never called. In the meantime, the bills started arriving. My significant other stopped by Dowsey and spoke with the owner, Mark Dowsey. The owner promised to come by the house himself. Once again, he never called or stopped by. Yet the bills kept coming. I wrote a letter to Mr. Dowsey asking him to stop sending bills or fix the problem. I never heard anything back, and the bills kept coming, now with late charges. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and still not heard from Dowsey. BEWARE AND DO NOT USE.

On Friday about 3:00 my neighbor called to report that there was water squirting out of the side of our house. On investigation, I surmised that it was the tankless water heater and according to the puddle on the ground, it had been doing this for some time. Having been given a "homeowners warranty" with Old  Republic Homeowners warranty service by our Realtor upon purchase of the home I immediately called them to report our emergency....long story short, we were told that it was inconvenient for anyone to come out at that time, (maybe Monday) .......so I immediately called my neighbor for a plumber and received no response to the person he recommended, so I went to Angies list and read reviews and selected Dowsey, Inc. Upon calling them I recieved their answer service because it was now after hours and considered a weekend. Michael Baker from Dowsey called me back in a short period of time and said he would be right out. Upon arrival, he informed my wife that the part needed would have to be ordered but he shut the spraying water off and told her (and showed her how to turn back on) if she wanted to do dishes or shower it was ok to turn it back on for a limited time and then shut back off. Meanwhile he left and our problem was temporarally solved until he could order new parts. About 30 minutes later, Michael shows back up with a part.....he had gone back to the warehouse and taken a part off of an old machine that had been scrapped, put it in our machine and now everything works fine.   I can't say enough about the service I recieved from Dowsey and Michael Baker, their motto on their card is "we put the serve in service" and this is absolutely true. As we have just moved here, they are our go to plumber from now on.

When I called for an estimate I was informed of the hourly rate plus parts, however I could not get any more information from the person on the phone. She would not give a ball-park estimate of time or parts cost, which made me uncomfortable to trust. I decided to use them solely on the positive feedback here on Angie's List.

The repairman arrived on time and was very professional. I was disappointed that he didn't have the cartridge in the van and had to run to the store to purchase one, especially since I tried to tell the person on the phone that I had a delta shower and suspected the cartridge. He arrived back and made the repairs in reasonable time.

I can only hope I'm not charged for the time it took to purchase the part, but I won't know until I get the bill. I was not provided a final bill at time of service and was told they will bill me. This also makes me nervous. I don't understand why there is such secrecy around prices in this company. I think most people are intelligent enough to know that an estimate is just that, an estimate.

As for service I rate the company with an A. Hopefully I won't have to modify this when the bill arrives.

They were wonderful. They did the work, looked at faucet that I was having problems with notified me BEFORE they went into overtime. Do you know how hard it is to find a good plumber? I feel like I've hit the jackpot. No wonder they had the highest marks on Angies list.
