"My name is Scott Webb, owner of Webb Electric Co. and I would like to respond to Member's review about my service and work during his time of need. Member called me on 5-18-2011 at 7:45 that morning needing emergency service because of a tree that had fallen and broke his main power (service entrance). I informed him that since I was already on another job,I would try to make it to his residence in about 30 minutes. It took an extra 15 minutes in order to make the job I was on safe and explaining to my customer the need to leave in order to take care of Member's emergency. That customer had work in progress by other trades and by me leaving and coming back later was no problem. After arriving at Member's job I noticed that a tree had fallen causing damage to his service and that the Power Company had not yet arrived to cut the power and remove the taps in order to even begin the work required. I informed the customer that since we had to wait on Alabama Power to arrive that I would go and get what materials that would be needed and get the required permit from the city in order to even really start the job. After almost 2 hrs. we were finally ready to begin.I installed the service with new 2' rigid conduit, mast, wire, flange, strapping etc. The total on materials at my cost was near $100.00 along with the $40.00 permit ,I made maybe $10.00 on the materials ( i didnt even charge for a service call of $35.00).The job did take about 3 hrs. after the removal of damaged parts and the installation of new. Then I had to wait an additional 30 minutes in order for the Power Company to re-hook,which Jack was not charged. Member had gave me a sad story prior to all this about his health.money, prior contractors, and overall can you give me a break on the bill attitude. After considering all aspects I decided to cut the normal service charge, give materials at cost and charge a minimum on the labor.I was committed to this job with really 5.5 hrs and losing money on the other job that I had left to try to please and restore power the same day that I was called to Member's place. In all reality this job should have been in the $450 to $500 range, but with me trying to help I get this kind of review. I don't know why it took Jack 3 months to write this negative review, I would have been glad to go over the bill with him. I have strived to perform the best quality work possible on any job, cleaned up behind our work (I left the old debris beside the curb because Member told me the city would pick it up) and treat every customer with repect and dignity. This review really bothers me because of someone who either forgot what had transpired, his insurance maybe didn't re-pay or someone had given him bad advice.( Oh yea his roof was damaged and shingles had to be replaced, and I am no roofer.) I really hope others will try to understand my side and don't always trust some reviews as to ones true character and work ethics. I work hard in our small community and word of mouth is one of the most common way around here to recommend reliable contractors. I have been in the electrical field for over 35 yrs and know a lot customers that were satisfied with all aspects of how I performed and the quality know how to get it done. Thank-you and God Bless Scott Webb"
