We cannot recommend this business. Our home was purchased new with HVAC installed and parts warrantied by Gilley's Heating and Cooling. A mini-split unit was installed in a bonus room upstairs which was an obvious shortcut and poor design. The indoor unit failed in less than 5 years. We waited patiently for support realizing summertime can be challenging for HVAC businesses. It took repeated calls for 2+ weeks to get a warranty repair. Calls were not returned. Technicians were knowledgable, friendly, and eventually installed a new indoor unit. The replacement unit was not the same size so the surrounding drywall was roughed up. No effort was made to correct this. Additionally, it was surprising to receive a large invoice without an up front explanation of charges. As a reference, we were charged $285 for labor ($95 to diagnose, $190 to install), $35 for a handling fee, and a shocking $240 for only 2 lbs. of freon??? Total $565. We expected to pay for labor and refrigerant. It is also understandable that businesses need to make a profit. However, we feel the markup on freon and added "handling fee" was unreasonable. A call was made to discuss these concerns but did not help. There are other HVAC businesses in the Enterprise, Dothan, and Ozark areas that will take better care of their customers.

My Mom had an entirely new HVAC unit put in by Gilley's in April and has had nothing but problems since. In May, her entire house flooded because the drain tube coming from the inside unit had two bends/kinks in it. She called Gilley's emergency number and no one called her back for two days. In the mean time, she called her insurance company, who sent out a clean up company. They determined that her flooring had to be completely removed and she had to have dehumidifiers and fans put in her house for 3 or 4 days to remove the water so that she wouldn't get mold. When someone from Gilley's finally came out, he said that the issue was caused from the filter which was less than one month old. Mr. Gilley never came out to inspect the job that his workers did, nor did he come out when a problem was reported. We then called another AC company to come look at the job to make sure it was safe to put in a new floor and were told that there were several issues with how the inside unit was installed. In fact, one of the issues was a potential fire hazard. We finally had to turn the issue over to the Alabama board of HVAC commissioners. Then, and only then, did Mr. Gilley contact us about the issue. He told my mother that he was going to be fined and asked her if he could come correct the issue. My mom eventually let them (Gilley's heating and air) come in and fix the issues. She can now only run the heat or have hot water, but not both at the same time. Mr. Gilley was called again and he informed my mother that he was done coming out to her house. She is a 68 year old woman living on a fixed income with major health issues. She had to finance the job so she is paying a lot of money every month for a system that doesn't work. I would not recommend this company EVER!!!!

We were very happy with the service. We called them because they had the type of air conditioner we were looking for and they said they could handle it; they gave us a price; they gave us exactly the right unit; they came and installed it and we have been happy with it ever since. They were excellent; we were very happy and if we ever had to have another unit replaced we would use them again. They were very responsive.

I personally felt there was very little professionalism used by the staff on the phone. The worker who came to the house the first time was very polite and appeared knowledgable. I am not pleased with the wasted time trying to get our issue fixed with the a/c.

The air conditioner stopped blowing cold air last night. I called Gilley's this morning at 7am about the problem and left a message. They called back at 8am and said someone would be out today to take a look at it and someone came before lunchtime. He replaced the starter and put in 2 pounds of freon. Good experience overall!

I called Gilleys to service the AC because they had a good write-up on Angies List. They have offices in both Dothan And Enterprise. I remember explaining the problem to the phone contact and she said it was probably dead bugs in and around the switch contacts causing them not to close. Sure enough when Wayne opened the unit there were alot of dead ants around the switch. Wayne not only cleaned out the area but TAUGHT me how the switch works and how bug residue can affect it. Then he added a pound of freon to the system and he was pretty much done in an hour. I really appreciate them not trying to sell me something I did not need. I really appreciate him educating me, letting me hang around and ask questions while he worked. Now that I've found an AC company I trust I'm going to have them back for an early spring AC checkup and when the unit needs replacing, I'll more than likely ask them to do the work. I had a real good experince with Gilley's Heating and Cooling here in Dothan, AL. M. Johnson

I called Gilley's Heating & Air with my problem and was pleased to find out that they would work around MY schedule (a real plus for me). The repairman (Steve) arrived promptly at the agreed time promised (Gilley's even called to confirm he was on his way). He wasted no time isolating the bad electrical service line with its failed circuit breaker and replaced same. He then turned his attention to the heat pump unit and discovered a defective start capacitor which he also replaced. It was gratifing to see that he had both replacements parts on his truck. This saved time getting the unit back in service. Steve was very pleasant while explaining the nature of the problem and what it would take to repair it. He worked quickly and afterward offered me the oppportunity to either write Gillys a check or to be billed for the service call. He gave me an itemized bill which reflected a fair price for all parts and labor.
