- To be fair Early Services did fix my AC, but at a cost. I consider myself a savvy shopper, but I made some consumer mistakes here and I paid for it financially. Chalk this up to a painful lesson that I already thought I had learned. I strongly recommend you shop around and look at Angie?s List or call your insurance company for a list of recommended HVAC companies before choosing to go with any company. -After calling 2 different HVAC companies who refused to service the unit because service panel was inaccessible, called Early Services because they installed the AC unit for the previous owner. They did agree to come out and work on the unit. After research, found that the company Installed ac system in 2009 without a city permit. After inquiring about the installation, company claims that previous owner did not want to spend the money to install it to code or with the service panel in an accessible area. Asked the company for remediation and they refused. The unfortunate thing is that If basic components go out (air handler or coil), I will have to pay for a complete removal and install to conduct routine maintenance because of cutting corners in the past. I received a verbal quote from the tech which was less than half the original cost after the bill arrived. Do not accept the verbal quote as the company will ignore and not honor it. Question all labor costs. Get them in writing before work starts. (I was initially charged $234 per hour) Ask for labor rate and number of techs they plan on sending to job. Keep track of the exact time they spend on the job. Make them check in and check out. Company reduced the labor rate marginally only after questioning it. Keep in mind, If they send a tech and all they do is watch and smoke, if does not matter, you will pay their labor rate at $78.00 per hour. That is well over $100K per year if you are doing the math. -Don?t waste your time asking for a military discount. I did. Company does not and will not honor military discounts!
