+ -1 moreHow it went...horrible. This is the worst experience I've ever had with any company...EVER! They offered to come back out and get it fixed ("as sometimes we need to make multiple attempts to fix things"), at additional charge. I would expect they get it fixed the first time. Now, as I've invested a little over $200 on a $150 dryer, I am forced to go buy a new dryer as it would be crazy stupid to spend another dollar on this one. Again, I couldn't be more displeased with the service and the way I was treated by Scott's Appliance Service. They remind me of the auto mechanic that sabotages you car so you'll keep coming back so they can keep taking your money and, even more valuable, your time. I was hoping to save a little money but instead, this has ended up costing me a small fortune. Cost of dryer...$150 Cost for "repairs"...$200 Cost for new dryer...$350 Total...$700 I would recommend you call ANYONE but Scott's.
Description of Work: My dryer stopped heating up. I called Scott's Appliance Repair to come out and fix it. They were scheduled to come out between 8 and noon on Tuesday (I work 2nd shift so it was imperative they come before noon as I leave for work shortly after). No one showed up and I didn't receive a call until 1:15pm. I called the office and rescheduled for Wednesday between 8 and 10am. The repairman showed up at 9 (which is fine). He found an issue with the power cord. He then installed the part the power cord screws into, informing me there was nothing wrong with the dryer. Note: He never checked anything to know there was nothing wrong with it, he just saw the bad cord and ASSUMED that was the issue. He did not install a new power cord as was needed...I had to go to the store 30 minutes away ( 60 minutes round trip) to get one and install it myself (the cord was an additional $25.00, plus my time and fuel). After installing the new cord myself, the dryer is still not heating. I was charged a highway robbery fee of $177.00 ( $120 labor, $52 parts, $5.00 tax, he was there for 20 minutes). I paid $150.00 for the dryer and after $177.00 in "repairs" were made, it still doesn't work.

+ -1 moreMy washing machine decided not to drain. I called and the lady that answered the phone was very friendly and the technician was professional, arrived when promised and fixed the problem quickly. I will definitely call them again for appliance repair if the need arises.

Description of Work: Replaced a sensor in my washing machine so the cycle would start when I closed the lid. He arrived at my house 30 minutes after my call since he was in the area. The labor was about $90 and the rest went to the part. I got the labor was high but he was very prepared with the part in his truck! Washer is a kenmore but Sears had told me they wouldn't be "in the area" for another 13 days!

Description of Work: My dryer was not working correctly and had a smell. I called on a Thursday and could not get an appointment until Monday. They arrived promptly on Monday and diagnosed a bad plug. They needed to order the plug and I needed to get an electrician to change the outlet. On Wednesday 2 days after the plug diagnosis the electrician came. He changed my outlet and did some other projects around my house. Scott's was at my house on a Monday and by Wednesday the "ordered" plug was still was not available to be installed. The electrician informed me that that plug was available at the local hardware store for $17 and he would install for me. I took him up on the offer, went and bought plug and the electrician installed. I had been without my dryer for a week and found Scott's to be a little lax in helping me. Before I purchased the plug I called Scott's to see if they would be out that day and was told no.
