"The team at WA Construction exceeded our expectations. Within a three-week timeframe, they were able to remove a damaged screened-in porch and replace it with one of superior quality (while staying within budget). They were courteous and did a great job keeping us informed every step of the way. Stop scrolling and hire these guys!"

"Mr. Godsey way very knowledgeable, very friendly and respectful. He repaired and reinstalled the nightshade and sun screen combo on our motorhome. He reinstalled it but it needed to be moved over a couple of inches.. without hesitation he took the shade back down and moved it where I wanted it. All the while he maintained hiis wonderfully personable attitude. Thank you so much for sending him to us!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

In Cullman, signs that previous flooring installation may need attention include hardwood cupping, crowning, or gaps—often due to AL’s humidity. Watch for musty odors, visible mold, or soft spots, which can indicate subfloor moisture. Cracked tiles, seam separation, or faded areas from sun exposure are also warning signs. Uneven transitions or exposed nails suggest poor workmanship; consult a flooring contractor for a thorough inspection.

Helpful?

Cullman homeowners should inspect flooring each spring for moisture damage after wet winters, and clean hardwoods before summer humidity peaks. In summer, monitor for expansion or UV fading. Fall is ideal for checking gaps as humidity drops and prepping for heating season. During winter, look for contraction gaps. Use a hygrometer monthly, inspect high-traffic areas, and document changes with photos to share with a flooring contractor if needed.

Helpful?

In Cullman, new homeowners should prioritize flooring projects that address the region’s frequent humidity and seasonal storms. Start by consulting a local flooring contractor to assess moisture-prone areas like basements or crawl spaces, as AL homes often face subfloor issues. Upgrade high-traffic spaces with water-resistant flooring installation, and replace any warped or outdated kitchen and bathroom floors to prevent long-term damage and maintain safety.

Helpful?

In Cullman, combining flooring installation with upgrades like HVAC improvements, electrical updates, or plumbing work can streamline your project and reduce labor time. Consider adding insulation or vapor barriers during floor replacement to address AL’s humidity. Painting and installing trim alongside new flooring can minimize disruptions. Scheduling bundled projects with local flooring contractors during off-peak seasons may also help you qualify for supplier discounts and faster completion.

Helpful?

For a safer, family-friendly home in Cullman, select non-slip, low-VOC flooring materials that handle AL’s humidity. Flooring contractors often recommend antimicrobial surfaces like cork or luxury vinyl for easy cleaning. Install cushioned underlayment for comfort and noise reduction, and choose textured finishes to hide pet hair. Allow extra curing time for finishes, especially during humid months, before letting children or pets use the space.
