Contractor was hired to do approx 400 ft of brick retaining wall; and pour concrete into approx 1800 sqft new space for spa and outdoor kitchen. His laborers made a mess; every square inch of my new walls and existing fence are covered in concrete. I paid Mr Steele in CASH to do this job; and I spent almost all of my time supervising HIS laborers. He said the job would take 3 weeks; but it has been nearly three months; and still not finished. He left forming boards in place on the last concrete pour; still has not finished the drywall for the french door installation, has not done the finishing brick on all step edges, and still has not pressure washed the brick to remove all of the concrete splatter mess his laborers made. The front fence was lifted to allow access for the mixer; and never properly reset into place in ground. I also spent nearly $3000 for rental equipment that he did not have; the most he used the equipment only resulted in him digging through the phone lines; which were clearly marked; and had to be emergency repaired by AT&T. I actually spent 38 Hours in a weekend on the digger moving the 44 cu.yds of backfill dirt he should have done. I was gracious and even fed his crew lunch; and provided drinks when they were here actually working; which wasn't very often,The laboroers also stole beer from my garage refridgerator The job is still not finished; even after I spent an addition $1100 for concrete to be poured; as he had already spent ALL of the money I had given him to do the job. Early this month I realized that getting the work finished would be a problem; so I locked out His trailer, which was left on my property...Today I spoke with Mr Steele; and it seems I now own a heavy duty trailer....he said I can feel free to take him to court.....and I will.... The "contractor" still owes me about $10,000.00 either in work; or re-imbursement for unfinished work.....so don't even think about hiring this crook....he will take your money; and vanish
