Tru Green came out the very next week to give my neighbors yard the treatment they missed, and they sprayed OUR yard AGAIN!!! For the second time in a week span, they sprayed our yard. I walked out to deja vu, with signs in the yard and a door hanger. Again, my company came out to assess the damage and I called Tru Green. They didn't really seem to care, just said, and quot;Oh, I'm sorry.and quot; When I brought up the fact that my money has been wasted on our own lawn company because our treatment plan has been messed up, the guy said, and quot;Well, look at it as two free treatments.and quot; Yeah, two free treatments that were a week apart and burned our grass!! The tech on the receipt was the very same tech that sprayed the wrong yard the first time! Again he wrote that the customer was unavailable (which again wasn't true because we were both home) and that he sprayed all areas (which wasn't true because we had the dogs in the backyard). I would NEVER recommend Tru Green. Sure, their customer service reps are nice. They have to be, because their workers screw up so much!!!
Fast forward to this past Spring. My yard was not "waking up" and I had lots of patches of dead grass in my front yard and dirt in my backyard. My backyard was looking worse and worse with each passing week. I called Scotts and told them of the situation. They said they would a tech out, free of charge, and they did. They said due to a late winter, my grass needed more Nitrogen to "wake up." They put this out on the yard in addition to normal fertilizer treatment. My yard continued in a rapid state of decay with each passing month and I began to get apprehensive.
Currently, my yard looks absolutely terrible. I have dirt patches and dead grass that was not present over a year ago pre-treatment. I expected that over a year an a half of treatment, my yard would look better and not worse. I then cancelled service with Scotts.
I thought something seemed amiss and called some other services to get their analysis on my lawn. They believed that the front and back yards were treated with the same fertilizer treatment, which is very bad since it is two different types of grasses. They also thought that my lawn possibly had too much nitrogen, which was reflective of a lot of the present damage.
Opinion:
I thought Scotts was very professional over the phone and very responsive on my questions. They were polite and courteous. I don't think the techs give a very personalized treatment of my lawn. I think they sprayed the general treatment all over, without consideration of the grass or the current state of the grass. I don't know what they did in my back yard as it has more weeds and dirt than grass at this point.
My opinion is that the techs were going through the motions, but never looked at my yard and said "Why does this look worse each time I visit? Maybe I should do something differently." I think if they would have reacted with different / correct treatments then my yard would not be in its current, detrimental state.
I know some people have had good luck with Scotts and I originally contracted them based on the reviews here. Unfortunately, they did not work out for me and I am moving to a different provider. The opinions of the future providers is that it will take 2-3 years to recover from the damage currently in place, which I am not at all pleased with.
