went ok... a few nicks in the film around window latches

Louis arrived at time scheduled. I showed him the work I wanted done. He had brought some film with him and was able to complete the work while there instead of having to schedule a return appointment.

It was great! Louis arrived when he was expected and had the window film installed in a little over an hour. The work looks great and is not noticeable to the casual observer from either inside or outside of the house. However, we have already felt a noticeable difference in the temperature in the rooms at the front of the house. I will post an update showing differences in electricity usage between July of this year and last. Note that we decided to go forward with this installation even though we had double pane windows in the front of the house. Looking forward to the cost savings!!!

Appears that "Solar Busters" is the only "company" in the Birmingham Metro Area that installs light and UV ray protective film over windows in a private home-not an office and not an automobile. The owner scheduled an appointment for an estimate and was on time. He spent a considerable amount of time talking-not much time measuring and in fact, the most difficult window to apply film to (a large window over the front door) he decided to "guestimate". The installation date and time were scheduled then and he did arrive on time but had cut the wrong size for the difficult window and had not brought his ladder for the difficult window. He advertised a 5% discount but did not include that in his final bill stating that he was not aware of such an offer. We negotiated the bill from his original estimate to that minus 5% but then he said his estimate did not include the cost of the film. I ended up having a semi-business conversation with him mainly that an estimate should include "parts and labor" not just an invented number that is subject to change once the job is completed. So far the film has not peeled off so I guess that is good but I really can not in goof faith recommend this company. If it had not been for the difficulty of reaching the window over the door I would have done it myself for about $500.00 cheaper.

Front door facing east, getting very hot from direct sun light. Contacted Louis at Solar Busters to install film on glass storm door and windows. Louis came, installed film, door still getting as hot as it was before. Called Louis, told him door still as hot as ever. Said he could come and show me with a meter that the film was blocking rays.Told him thanks but no thanks, my door would still be too hot to touch and as he had told me the film would keep my door from getting hot, his product was not keeping my door from getting hot as he had stated to me it would. I told Louis I felt I had waisted $221.00 as I was no better off than I was.

We decided to take advantage of the Big Deal offered on Angie's list ($300 worth of tinting for $99). Louis from Solar Busters came out the next day and measured all the windows. We received a price from him a few days later, and decided to go ahead and have the whole house done . It took him two days to finish the job, and we feel he did a very good job. We can already tell a difference in the amount of heat that comes through the windows, and we can still have a lovely view through our windows. We should get a $500 tax credit for having film put in the windows, and I'm looking forward to having lower electric bills in the long summer months.

Louis was professional and finished job in one day. the film along with a new heat pump reduced my electric bill from $400/mo to $200./mo

He came to my house and provided the options to select from. After the product came in he installed on the windows. Lights get in put people can not see in.

I have a lot of windows in our house. We get sun in the morning directly into the front of the house. Then in the evening, we get sun directly into the back of the house. Needless to say, the house heats up during the summer months. So I started to look into getting film put on the windows. I had two goals. The first was to reduce the heat in the house. The second was to protect our furniture and hardwoods from sun fading. I have hardwoods throughout the main level. So after a bit of research, I concluded that I did not want to do the DIY method from the local home improvement super chains. I felt that we needed something of quality and durability. And I concluded that I was not even going to try to measure window sizes and do the installation. I found Louis at Solar Winds and had him come out for measurements and a quote. He was very knowledgeable of the products and very professional. I consider this an investment into my home. Therefore, I wanted a professional install with a product that was going to work exactly as advertised. I also wanted something durable that would last for years. I have had the film on for several years now. Coming up on 4 years I believe. The product looks as good today as the day it was installed. No cracks, no peeling, etc. No fading of furniture, floors, carpet, etc. Power bill has gone down as well. There are several types of film with advantages and disadvantages as well as varying budgets. Louis does a great job of explain g and recommending the options. Great job and would highly recommend.

I think he is a very reputable guy. He came and did an estimate which was higher than another guy but I'm glad I chose him. I'm very pleased with the results.

He arrived and realized that the grates in the windows didn't snap out, so he had to make many more cuts in order to finish the job. He did it with good humor and only charged me 50. more, even though it required much more labor than planned. He also cleaned the floor on the little area by the window that I can never reach. He cleaned up everything and even went back out to get his ladder when he noticed streaks.

I bought my house in foreclosure and therefore had to be careful with what I spent in the first year since it was under right of redemption. Because I have a lot of windows, we decided to invest in tinting on 3 sides of the house. We got several quotes including 2 quotes from neighbors who had gotten the work done. We chose Solar Busters for several reasons. First was Louis' knowledge of the business. He did not try to sell me the most expensive material he had but truly gave me options and explained the value of each option. After researching the films he had to offer as well as comparing his prices to the other quotes I had received, we chose Solar Busters. I would tell you it is the best investment I have made on my house thus far. My power bills immediately dropped. Louis was professional in every regard - arrived when he said he would, cleaned up when he was done, and my bill was exactly as he quoted. I would recommend this company to anyone and would definitely use him again

Overall it worked out well. Solar Busters is the exclusive installer for 3M. I contacted 3M for a reference and so it took a while to get to the installer. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the product. A little disorganized with estimates and line item prices. Good total price and warranty on product and labor.
