I was very pleased with the work JRLA did on our house. Using a combination of techniques they solved my drainage problems and greatly improved the appearance of two entrances to my home. The solutions were well designed and built for what I think was a very reasonable price. Improvements included:
Installing a French drain to redirect water around the house and safely away through the side yard
Rebuilding and repointing portions of a large brick patio at the front entrance to direct water away from the house
Moving downspouts and creating a drainage system to carry water from the roof safely away from the house
Laying a vapor barrier in an infinished crawl space of the basement
Pouring a reinforced concrete slab (for trash cans) and rebuilding a portion of the side entrance patio to improve the appearance and drainage.
The design was attractive and very effective. The build was fast and professional, about 3.5 days. My drainage problems have all been solved!
The original estimate for this job was about $5,000. As we worked through the design, I added several items to the job. Mr. Russell kept me informed of budget changes and gave me easy to understand choices along the way. The final cost was about $8,000, but the increase was all discussed as I requested the additions to the job.
My largest concerns were to resolve my water issues and to rehabilitate the 64 year old brick patio. A second concern is that I wanted the work to blend with the house- not look like new construction tacked on to an old house. It looks great and fits with the original design of the structure, which was very important to me because it is a historic home.
Mr. Russell is a licensed Landscape Architect, so he really knows what he's doing. He has a good crew that did excellent work and cleaned up, took care of the punch list, and really left a good impression. He charges for design, but waives it if you choose to have him do the construction. My advice is to schedule enough time up front to get a good design that's just what you want. It's well worth it because they have the knowledge and experience to steer you in the right direction.

Very knowledgeable and their work has solved our water problem. Estimate was almost $2000 under which caught us by great surprise. Sod was laid for area they worked on and some had to be redone a second time but yard still doesn't look as good as it did before their work. I am glad we had the work done but it was quite pricey and I am disappointed in the way the sod has failed to thrive despite us doing our part to water and maintain.

They were excellent. He saw the whole picture and addressed areas that two or three other people that came and looked at the same problem didn't even recognize as part of the problem. Throughout the entire project, he continuously made sure that I was happy with the job. His workers were exceptionally attentive and very knowledgeable to what they were doing. They were very neat and clean.
