He came and replaced the flapper in the toilet first because after testing it found that it was disintegrating and was the possible cause for continues water to be draining and the pump continuously running. However, after replacing and flushing the toilet the pump drained the water out but did not cut off. He then pulled on the pipes going into the floor and was able to make it stop and thought there was possibly something blocking the sensor so that was not functioning correctly. He opened up the concrete cover, cut the pipe, pulled the pump out but did not find anything floating in the water. He informed me that it was a very old pump but he would attempt to just clean some of the corrosion around the base of the float to see if it would make a difference. Otherwise, it would have to be replaced. He did so, replaced the cut pipe and flushed the toilet 25+ times and it promptly cut off after draining the water. He said replacement will be necessary when it goes out again.
