Isaiah was very professional. He gave me an estimate that was amazing for the work he was doing for me. Him and his crew did a great job. They were very respectful of my home and my belongings. The remodel went very well and was completed in a timely manner. I would hire this company again and refer him to my friends!!!

Contracts work both ways, and Mr. Armstrong did not abide by the contract we signed. He created work not to code (specifically Alabama Building Code 1910.1 and International Residential Code R401.3). He did not follow any industry standard practices regarding concrete slabs on grade (see ACI 332.1R-06 section 5.1). None of the slabs met any of the contract requirements. The 3'x9' is not even the right size - it was poured to about a 4'x7'! Moreover, they “finished" at 9pm at night (well after dark, when it was impossible to even assess the quality of the work until the following morning) and demanded the remaining payment at that time. This was not something the "one more coat” Mr. Armstrong offered would have fixed. This was deeply flawed, unsafe, unusable, non-code work that had to be totally demolished. Mr. Armstrong was terminated for breach of contract on June 17, 2021 and all further payments to him were (thankfully) halted by my bank. Again, Mr. Armstrong was absolutely paid $1,250. He was paid this on May 23, 2021, and he deposited this check on May 25, 2021. He was paid no further money because he did not adhere to the contract and, given the extremely poor quality of this work, I have zero confidence in his tradesmanship or ability to deliver on any additional promises to repair it.
Response from Armstrong Painting & Construction
"Customer did not pay for service...I told customer we could fix everything he had a issue with to make sure he was 100% satisfied customer stopped the concrete process and the concrete got hard in the process of customer changing the way he wanted it layed in contract...customer seen the level before we started however customer wanted to lower the concrete slab because of the drain lines in the 2nd layer brick but the original builder built the house blocked the drain lines anyway when they poured the original slab to the house. We wanted to pour slab to match existing slab height in order to get a good size and install drain however once customer wanted it lower we had to cancel the original design in contract causing a level issue for customer ...we where only able to pour at a one brick level causing the slab to be thinner in design...also told customer it would be a change order to dig inches in the ground in order to get thicker like the original built slab and he did not want to pay any money for change order to crrect tge matter... however customer was satisfied with the job the last day we finished until the next day his check bounced with insufficient funds and he didnt have the funds available after he wrote a check for completion of work...we never got paid for our services in labor we just paid for materials for customer but customer didnt pay for our labor work at all... We told customer if it was anything he didnt like that we would come back and spend time to fix the issues so we could get paid for our work and have a satisfied customer but customer refused and never paid for any work..."

Generally dissatisfied with the experience of working with them. Demo was done very hastily with little thought for what was planned, resulting in extra work to repair and cover up. It took 13 weeks to complete a 6 week project. We were given change orders that more than doubled the price of the project and those change orders were provided after the work was completed with no communication of price impacts before starting the work. Near the completion of the job, I was legit told that our original quote was a "marketing price meant to low ball and get the job" and that is not an acceptable way to do business. Most of the work done is fine, not great. The subs he used were mostly unqualified, incapable and frankly got confrontational when asked to repair bad work. We expected them to act as a GC and own much of the project management, but they took little responsibility for anything done wrong and did very little quality control on subs work. No clear project plan or organization throughout the process with poor communication all the way. Lots of claims of high character and reputation were made throughout the sales process and in the engagement, but I was frustrated by a couple of situations specifically: 1. They accidentally hit my car in my driveway (which happens and is not a big deal) but did not mention it to me until I noticed the damage and went back into my video surveillance and saw what was done. Once confronted, they did pay for it, but the fact that I had to ask about for them to admit to the accident and take responsibility for it is concerning. 2. I was provide receipts for reimbursement and they included more than $1500 of new tool purchases that I caught in review and had to inform them that those purchases were inappropriate to ask me to cover. I am generally displeased with how this all went and would not hire them again.

I was not pleased with all the people having in my house. There were so many different types of people came in my house. The thing he did was not the thing he promised. He had to re do a lot of things because I wasn't happy with it.
