Gray's was recommended by a friend who had used them. Gil Gray came out as scheduled and gave us a clear cut estimate. They charge by the job size and amount of time they estimate it will take. The price we were quoted included all haul off of debris and stump grinding as well. The crews showed up on time on the scheduled day and were done by the end of the day. These guys really know what they are doing. They even plucked three large pine trees out of the middle of a small stand of dogwoods with minimal damage. Using a large crane, most of the trees or tree tops were craned from their location to a debris collection area where a crew immediately cut them down for haul off. I understand they often use shredders, but they were not used for our job. The next day a debris truck picked up what was left and the stump grinder finished his work. I would use this company again.

Great!!  Arrived at agreed time, left about 3 hours later, mulched area the following day, day after that debris remaining hauled away, minimum damage to lawn near house.  Very pleased.

We hired them to cut down a tree that was causing a retaining wall to bulge. At first we asked the to cut tree and remove stump, but after they came and looked at it, they recommended leaving the stump since removing it would destroy the wall.  They came on time and finished in one day.  The very next day they came out and removed all of the debris- not even a twig on the driveway.
This was the second time we have used them and have been very pleased.  They are very polite and professional.

I got quotes from multiple companies I found here on Angie's List with good reviews.  The last company to quote me was Gray's tree service.  I liked the salesman who quoted me and decided to go with Gray's (they gave me the same price as the other company I was considering using).  A few days later I received a phone call to schedule a day to have the trees cut.  I took the day off so I could be at home when they came to work on my trees.  Unfortunately, they never showed up or called.  Upon me calling their office, I was informed that they were having problems with the truck.  I understand that things like this are bound to happen, however I expect a phone call to let me know...especially when I had taken the day off just to be at home when they came!  They showed up the next day (I had to be at work) and did their work.  When I got home I was not happy with the results as they had not done everything I was expecting.  After finally getting in touch with someone we once again scheduled an appointment.  I called the morning of our second appointment and had to leave a voice-mail during their working hours and received a return phone call about an hour later and was informed that they would be at my house at some point that day with not even an approximation about what time.  They did eventually show up and I went over what I expected with the crew leader.  I was informed that what I wanted is not what was on their quote....NOTE: if you do have Gray's tree service quote you GET EVERYTHING SPELLED OUT FOR YOU!  Other quotes I received were very detailed spelled out sentences, however my quote from Gray's was a map of my yard with very vague details like "raise canopy of oak tree".  In the end, they did resolve the problem and I am happy with the results.  I was 100% satisfied with the crew as I could not tell they had even been cutting large limbs down in my yard. However, I was extremely disappointed with their scheduling and communication skills and because of this would probably not use them again in the future.
TLDR: They didn't show up on the date we scheduled and failed to contact me to let me know.  We had a few disagreements on the work to be performed (If you do have them quote you be sure to get everything written out very clearly).  In the end I was very happy with work done but very unimpressed with their scheduling and communication.  Will use a different company in the future.

They had to come out twice to finish the cleanup. We had giant tree trunks left in our yard obstructing and killing  our grass. When they came out they showed up late and they did not finish the work on time or the amount of time they said they would.

They were super nice and super efficient, they got them down without damaging the yard, cleaned everything up.  They were very nice and so quick, very polite and very good.

I called several tree services for estimates and quickly selected Gray's because of their responsiveness, professionalism and price. The quote was written and detailed compared to some of the others that were simply verbal.  Once selected, Gray's was onsite within five hours with heavy equipment to get the tree down.  In a matter of about 90 minutes, the tree was safely on the ground.  Understanding that they had worked me into their work schedule to handle the priority safety concern, I told them that they could delay the cleanup until they had an opening in their schedule since the tree was safely on the ground.  That being said, they then called me daily to give me an update on their plans.  Understanding that there may be some risk in letting them delay, I was completely satisfied with their responsiveness.  Within 24 hours they had ground the stump out and within 48 hours, the cleanup was done and the job complete.
I would absolutely use them again in the future and I have already given their contact information to neighbors that have inquired about who did the work.

We set the appointment and they came on time and did what they were supposed to do in a timely manner.  We were very satisfied with their work.  I would definitely use them again in the future and have already have recommended them to others. 

All I have to say is they are not dependable. They do not keep they're word.

Overall it was great.
