The Grounds Guys of Auburn, Alabama

My experience with this company?was a fiasco as far as I am concerned. After looking at their website, I?called and spoke to?Steve Galant and The Ground a Guys and hired them?the first week in May. He told me it would be 2 weeks before he could do the work. I did not hear from him for 3 weeks, so I?called him again.?He said he would meet me at my daughter's home the following Monday and I could show him what I needed done and he AGREED ( on the phone)TO DO THE WORK THAT SAME DAY.?When I met him and showed him around the property, he said it would be ANOTHER week before he could do the actual work. He PROMISED me he would be there WITH HIS "WITH HIS CREW"?bright and early on June 6. I had a friend with me who was a witness. He told me I didn't have to be there.??I told him I WOULD?be there as well because I wanted specific things to be done. (He had not written anything down.) well, thank God I went there! I had been back and forth waiting for them to show up all morning. I returned a third time at 1 pm. There were 2 men, working alone, no Steve Galant in sight. They told me he had dropped them off at noon. (So, now they are at over?3 weeks, and a half day late!) When I entered the backyard I was speechless! These two men clearly had no knowledge of landscaping. The edging they were doing was extremely crooked, messy and they were dumping large clods of earth INTO the perennial gardens, not into a wheel barrow, crushing all kinds of perennial flowers! I told them to stop immediately! They told me Steve had instructed them to "do it like that". ( SEE PHOTOS PROVIDED) I then?called Steve right away, I demanded to know where he was, why he wasn't supervising these 2 workers, telling him what they were doing. He came to my daughters house is less than 5 minutes! He told me he couldn't get there this morning, at the appointed time, or NOW to supervise these men, as he had promised. I told him I?was sick of his excuses, they should pack up their wheel barrow and shovel and LEAVE! He proceeded to argue with me and only left when I threatened to call the police.? EVERYTHING I HAVE STATED IS THE COMPLETE TRUTH. THE GROUND GUYS OF AUBURN AND STEVE GALANT ARE a DISASTER waiting to happen in YOUR?yard! HIRE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

They went above and beyond the call of duty. My yard was a complete mess and they have turned it around 180 degrees. I am getting compliments from neighbors and others. There was a bed of poison ivy in the front of the house that was cleaned out with no complaints or hassles. If you were looking for landscape work to be done, you would be crazy not to use these guys.

Took almost a full month for them to show up after getting the quote (which took a few days to get). This is only after I contacted them several times to inquire when they were going to show. When they did show up, they only performed 2 of the 3 quoted services, and said they'd be back 'sometime soon' to do the thatching work I wanted. 
The cleanup work they did was sub-par. They removed most of the major brush I wanted, but left a ton of leaves and sticks and twigs. I had to call to have them come out and pick the rest of it up (some of which I had to rake into piles myself), which took a few days.
I never did get the thatching done, after my experience with the brush removal and cleanup, I called to put the thatching work off until the fall, but I'll be finding someone else to do the work.
Prices were the lowest of the 3 landscapers I had come out to quote. Brush removal was the cheapest, but the thatching work was quoted about the same as the others.

Steve was very responsive and took care of the job right away.................................but did a bad job.  His guys put a HUGE pile of my leaves into my neighbor’s yard instead of cleaning them up.  Then Steve told me his guys wouldn't do that and that my neighbor being an old man was just complaining.  But there WAS A HUGE PILE OF LEAVES put into his yard.  Steve was rude when I called him and then finally said he would come back and take a look the next day................needless to say the leave were gone after Steve came by, but what kind of company dumps leaves in a the neighbor’s yard?  I would never hire them again.
