After the walk-through, I emailed Mr Humphries a detailed list of everything that we had discussed including number and location of outlets. All of the items we had discussed to be included in the estimate of $9100. Mr. Humphries had to wait until some demolition was completed and a new recessed area for a refrigerator had been built, but that was quickly done by another group. Initially I was very pleased with the electrical work. When the rat's nest of wiring in the original electrical panel was gone, Mr. Humphries emailed me pictures of the completed work - and informed me that he had replaced the 100 amp service with a 200 amp service (!). We had agreed -after the fact- that he would take the 100-amp electrical panel in an even trade. From there, things seemed to deteriorate fast. Mr. Humphries started calling my handyman (on my dime) and telling him he needed holes cut, or this or that done.
When I came down at 3 weeks to inspect what had been done at this point, and expecting it to be almost completed, I found that Mr. Humphries had rented some kind of saw and cut channels in almost every lath and plaster wall in the main level to run the new wiring instead of pulling the wire. And he wanted to charge me an extra $3800 because "it was taking longer than he thought." The cost to repair those walls will be at least that much! He finally got recessed lights in the kitchen and living room and installed some of the new fixtures inside and out in July, but I had to hire another electrician to finish the job after not hearing from Mr. Humphries in almost 6 weeks.
During this time, there was no power available in the house except for one outlet on the main level and one in the basement. The sump pump in the basement had been disconnected and the basement flooded during a rain. (He did come and re-establish power to the sump pump when I called him.) The mini blinds that I had intended to use for the next couple of years to save money have been destroyed, he left windows open, left the front of the house unlocked, completely filled my garbage can and my neighbor's (who was very unhappy), when those were full he piled the trash in an enclosed area on the front porch (it was waist high). Inside, as if the channels in the walls were not enough, he broke out a large area of bricks in an interior wall that have to be repaired and ripped out some of the tongue and groove paneling upstairs breaking off the tongue on the boards. This was not necessary as there was an 3' by 4' opening in the wall at that area already.
In short, Mr. Humphries may be fine as an electrician, I have some reservations there, but he lacks professionalism and common courtesy. I ended up locking him out of the house on the advice of my lawyer and hiring another electrician to finish the job. I would NEVER use him for another job, nor would I recommend him to anyone else. I do have pictures of all of the claims that I make here.

I will recommend them highly. Their price was very competitive. They were very prompt. It was an older gentleman who had his own business, and I liked that. They gave some very good suggestions, which I followed through. I think the price was good, and I will use them again in the future.
