First Realty

Description of Work: Ann Causey, employed by First Realty, managed a rental house for us from Sept. 2012 through February 2013. This was such a bad experience with both she and the company that it is hard to know where to begin. The potential renters were presented to us as a married couple that had met all the requirements of First Realty's credit check and other supposed requirements. Much later we found out the couple had two different last names and a credit check was only ran on one party. This was addressed in First Realty's contract terms and stated clearly that all adults would have a credit check and be held responsible for payment of rent. From the start of this rental agreement the renters were late/non payment each month. Ann Causey/First Realty did very little to address this issue and were very slow to respond to our inquiries. We had to make daily calls to First Realty to see if any rent had been posted. After several months of non payment Ann Causey recommended against pursuing legal eviction. Property management by Ann Causey was negligent in the following areas: allowed smoking in the home, pets on the property/ in the house, unsightly garage sale/ household items stored in driveway in front of house; all of these conditions prohibited by rental agreement. The renters had a professional relationship with First Realty serving as a cleaning contractor. We felt that relationship led First Realty/ Ann Causey to be more of an advocate for the renters than the property owners. Although Anne Causey and First Realty management were made aware of several problems with the renters, they took no action to rectify these problems. When we tried to address these problems with them they were very uninterested and bothered by our requests for action. They were willing to allow the renters stay indefinitely while constantly telling us "they are good people." After six months of this poor property management, Ann Causey became irritated by our requests for action and suggested we terminate our contract for property management, which we gladly did.
