In summary, hiring Tom was a terrible decision. We hired him to inspect a home before we purchased it. Everything seemed to go well and minor things were found that the current homeowners fixed. Very shortly after moving into the house I found several soft spots in the floor. I called Tom and he assured me that there was nothing wrong and blamed it on it being a “floating floor” and the way it expands and contracts with the weather. I thought nothing else of it, trusting him since he is a professional. Months later (we’ve been in the house about 10 months at this point) I was 3 months pregnant and my husband and I decided to put carpet in the future nursery. We called a contractor to look at the soft spots. Turns out, our sub floor was rotted and molded. It was so soft, the contractor said he was surprised no one has fallen through it yet. I was so upset especially since the worst room was the nursery and it could’ve potentially gone unnoticed. We found out that there was a leak under the house that had been going on for a very long time- much longer than we have been in the house according to the contractor. I tried to call Tom and he instructed that I text him....kind of weird. I still have all the messages were he explained that he did everything he was supposed to and that if we pursue mediation that we could loose our home insurance. This scared me. We are first time home owners and didn’t know how things like this work. Tom continued to blame this on my neglect- even though I contacted him concerned about the floor several months prior. He said he recommended a structural engineer but after reading the report multiples times he only states he “may recommend a structural engineer” IF he finds structural damage. He DOES state in the report that he “did not found any structural damage”. One of Tom’s responses to My concerns was “sorry for you”. We had to take out 2 loans to fix everything wrong with the floor before our son arrived. Now that our son is born and several months old, I’m hoping to address these issues. I will never recommend Tom to anyone.

Excellent! I'm experienced in houses and remodeling, but I wanted a professional inspection to be confident before purchase. Tom is great. He's been in the area for a long time, and has tremendous experience. He's also very friendly - wonderful to work with. He explained everything. I would not hesitate at all to use Tom again.

Scheduled inspection very promptly. Very thorough and provided a detailed, informative report. In addition to items that needed immediate attention, he provided suggestions about what we might need to look at further on - and how to go about maintaining and fixing them.

In summary: Tom was late to the inspection, 2 days late on the report, re-entered the home at a later date without contacting the agent, didn't perform the mold test, was very unprofessional, contradicted himself, and wandered around like a lost moth during the inspection. I was present during the entire inspection and there wasn't any apparent rhyme or reason to his inspection. He turned the tub faucet on to let it fill so he could check the jets, but then left the room and I eventually turned the jets off because the tub was about to reach the overflow drain. He never asked or acknowledged that he left tub on. He never checked any of the windows (I went through and verified they all opened). He contradicted himself during the inspection. At one point he said a crack in the garage roof was just cosmetic, and at another point he said it was a potential fire hazard that needed to be properly fixed right away. He didn't perform the mold inspection that I requested. I never once saw him check anything on the electrical system in the house other than opening the breaker box and turning on lights. His website states that all outlets are checked, but this wasn't done. Several times throughout our communication he got mixed up on which house we were talking about. He was also often unintelligible over email/texting. He did a radon test, forgot about it, then re-entered the home without notifying the agent, got mad when the agent contacted him, and whined to me about it in an email. It was all very unprofessional. I would not recommend this man to anyone. I don't know where the good reviews have come from....Maybe he was good at one time but he certainly is not now.

Tom arrived on time, and was ready to execute his inspection of the home. He came very prepared, and answered any and all of my question no matter how trivial they may have sounded. He educated me on structural design and offered suggestions for repairs. He conducts himself in a very professional manner. Thank you so much Tom.

Tom did a great job. I do not live in the same town but was interested in a certain house. Tom made the time to get it done and get the report to me. The report was thorough and had plenty of pictures. He found things I would not have known about. He was very accommodating and made a special effort to look at items I had requested as well. Tom also provided a great list of people/businesses he recommended to get things done to the house. I had planned to ask him for such a list but it came standard in the report. Excellent. I'd use Tom again in a heartbeat.

Tom is one of the most personal guys that I have met.  He is very helpful and willing to assist.

For those of you that like every detail laid out in words in a contract, Tom provided that in his report.
For those of you that don't particularly like contracts but like to work with a man that will keep his word, and goes beyond what he said he would do in the beginning rather that taking short cuts - Tom is the man you want to work with.

We were getting a property inspected in Huntsville AL.  We were moving from Mississippi and therefore had to schedule our inspection time so that we could be on site.  Tom accommodated us from the beginning by doing this.

Tom was very informative on what he was doing. It did not bother him that I followed him around. Especially since this was my first home to purchase. And he was eager to answer any questions that I had.

went great.  very detailed.  only issue was they showed up late as they had the time confused.

Report was very detailed lots of pictures.  Showed us things we could do ourselves and even instructions on how to do it.  I've never seen a report done so detailed and thorough.

Quck, thorough and worth the money.
