Appliance Sale
I contracted with valley appliance to supply and install new kitchen appliances and new granite counter tops they did and I paid them in full. almost two years later in trying to sell my home I found out there was a lien placed on my home by the granite supplier to valley appliance. Valley appliance had never paid their supplier for my granite counter tops. The supplier placed a lien on my home without any type of notice and I would have not know until we listed our house. To resolve the matter i had to pay the supplier for my counter tops again so their would remove the lien from my house. Valley appliance has since closed their stores and reopened under the name of Kitchens by Design.

They diagnosed that a leak kit was faulty and told me that they would have to order the part. Two weeks later, I called. I was told that the original repairman quit and that they would have to find someone else to come out. I had to call back multiple times to schedule an appointment. Once the Athens office did not answer for the entire day. The Huntsville office told me that the person in the Athens office had to go to the doctor - so they have no one else in the office??
Finally the appointment was scheduled for the following Thursday. At 8:45 PM, they called and told me that they were still an hour away. So we rescheduled for the following Monday. Valley Appliances did not come to my home or call me on Monday. They did come the following day, after I called and complained. They came to the house on time.
They replaced the part and the dishwasher still did not work. The repairmen made a large mess and left a shim protruding from the unit when they put the machine in place. One repairman was obviously learning from the other. The young repairman told me that since the dishwasher would not even cycle, he doubted that the part was faulty at all. He told me that he did not have the experience or knowledge to diagnose the problem. Rightly, I was not charged for the part or installation.
I assumed that someone would phone me. But of course, that did not happen. I phoned several times before there was an answer. I was then given a number of a repairman and told that I would have to chase him and schedule an appointment. I protested that this was ridiculous that Valley Appliances expected their customers to chase the repairman and schedule appointments for themselves.
It has been over a month since since I began working with Valley Appliances. I will never use them again. I will never recommend them. In fact, I am calling Electrolux and advising that in addition to making expensive energy efficient dishwashers that do not work longer than 2 years they are also further damaging their reputation by associating with Valley Appliances.

I ordered a new washing machine on a Friday, with the assurance that the new machine would be in and delivered some time the following week. My old machine had died, so timeliness was a definite factor in my purchase decision. On Thursday of the following week, I hadn't heard anything from the store, so I called to find out the status....and was told it would be another week. I was annoyed, but went ahead and set up delivery for the following Thursday.
The next Thursday, I waited all day for a delivery that never came. I called on Friday and was told it was delayed until Monday or Tuesday. On Tuesday, I called again...and was told it was due in the FOLLOWING Monday or Tuesday. This pattern continued for an entire MONTH. Not once did anyone from the store call to update me on my order status. Delay after delay. I think all totaled, I was given 6 different days that I should expect my appliance.
Finally, nearly a month after I placed my order, I was fed up with the company and called my credit card company to dispute the charges. Of course, Valley Appliance's delivery man called a couple days later to deliver the machine. I accepted delivery and called back the credit card company to cancel the dispute and allow the charge to proceed.
The machine seems to work well, and I think I paid a fair price for it. That is the only positive to my dealings with the store. I thought we were done dealing with them at this point....but I was wrong.
The following week, we had a knock at our front door at 7:30 PM. It was a salesman from Valley Appliance demanding payment! He insisted we hadn't paid for the appliance and he needed to re-run our credit card. I refused to be double-billed, as I had already dealt with my credit card company and cancelled my dispute. I also had no intentions of handing my credit card info over to someone who would show up at my house at night! Kudos to a wonderful customer service rep from Chase Visa who was willing to talk to the salesman on our front porch and confirm that payment was being processed.
In summary, I would definitely not do business with this company again. My product was not provided within the promised window. There was absolutely no communication from the store. I do like my washer now that I finally have it. And I'm still completely dumbfounded that someone showed up on my doorstep! I can understand their desire to be paid, but surely coming to a customer's house is not a part of a credit card dispute process?
