All went very smoothly. The process was not uncomfortable and the owners treated us as if we were family. They were very caring and loving.

Paws Memorial did an excellent job handling the cremation of our cat. Erica, the owner, was very responsive, kind, compassionate, and professional, which made the whole process as easy as possible, given my emotional condition. I called Paws in the morning and Erica was able to work us in on very short notice for a private cremation later that afternoon, as we requested. So we were able to have the procedure done at our vet in the morning, and the cremation was later that same day, which was less stressful for us. We chose the "private" cremation, which is a little more expensive, but you are guaranteed that the remains you receive are from your pet and yours alone. We preferred to be with our cat the whole time, so we opted to drive her from the vet after she was put to sleep to Paws' location in Athens ourselves, but they would have picked her up and returned the cremains to for us, had we chosen that. The facility is beautiful and in a serene "country" setting, but easy to find. Inside the building was spotless, stylish, and comfortable. We were shown to the observation room that had a window where you can observe the process, if you wish to. There is a key in the wall, so you can opt to be the one to start the machine, or they can do it for you from inside the crematorium room. For our small cat, the process took a little less than an hour, so while we waited, Erica showed us the numerous styles of keepsake urns they have there on site (or you can order from a website.) We found one we liked and chose to have it engraved. We took our kitty home in a temporary urn and they dropped off the keepsake one we bought, after the engraving was done, to our vet so we could pick it up later that week. From beginning to end, we were impressed with the professionalism and kindness exhibited by everyone at Paws. I hope it is a long, long time before we need these services again, but when we do, we will definitely turn to Paws once again. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who wants their beloved fur-babies treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Animal Burial/Cremation
Again, just six months after our last loss of a long loved family pet we had to put another to sleep. The last time we wanted to have our dog put to sleep at home because she was just not up to being moved to the vets and we hoped it would be easier on us and her at home. It was. Now our eldest cat's time had come. He hates all people, except us, and hated the vet's office. We hoped by doing this at home it would be easier on him. It was. Again the folks at PAWS Memorial fit our schedule into there's and were prompt, discrete, respectful and compassionate. We never felt pressure to let them take him, rather we had all the time we needed. They gently carried him to their van and again within a day we had his remains back in the engraved box we ordered with a hand written sympathy card, pet loss information, and in a very nice velvet bag. These people help you at one of your worst times in your life. They are amazing and encourage anyone with a loved pet to contact them to help you.

The amazing folks at PAWS Memorial were incredibly kind and supportive on the phone. Ensured we had everything lined up just right. The were prompt and descrete allowing us time with our dog after the vet gave the injections. And with complete respect and gentleness they collect her and carried her remains to their van. Within a day I received a phone call that her remains were ready and they could bring them to my house or my vets. The remains came in the beautiful box we ordered, with the engraved plaque, handwritten sympathy card, information on pet loss and coping all in a very nice velvet bag.
A horrible time made less so due to their compassion and skill.

We took our deceased, nineteen-year-old cat to PAWS' office in Athens, AL a couple of hours after her death. When we first called PAWS, they were able to provide us a timely appointment to see us. They dealt with us with tact and understanding. Their office is a beautiful brick building in an upscale, residential, semi-rural area just outside Athens. We were greeted warmly by the owner, Erica Sickler, and she took our cat, Bonnie, into the back room while we remained in her beautifully appointed and comfortable office. We could see the evident love of animals Erica and her helper has for animals. in the office was a 3-legged brown Labrador Retriever that Erica had rescued and, despite his handicap and other health problems, he acted like any other happy, tail-wagging, active dog. When Erica returned to the office, she then took us to a separate room that housed their extensive line of urns. We chose the perfect one for our cat, which we had previously seen on her informative website. Since Bonnie's urn would have a golden, engraved plaque on its wooden base, Erica took the time to engrave a sample for us so that we could see how the engraving would look on the type of plaque that we had selected. Once our business was concluded, we asked to see Bonnie one last time to say goodbye. She led us into the back room crematory, which was as spotless as a surgical room with immaculately-maintained, impressive-looking cremation equipment. Erica left us alone with Bonnie to say our goodbyes. Then we left, with the surprising news that Bonnie's urn containing her ashed would be delivered to us at our home the following morning. We did not have to make a return trip to Athens. And, apparently, if we had wanted to have PAWS pick her up, they could have done that, too. In summary, PAWS provides a necessary service to grieving pet owners with tact, care, and professionalism.
