While there, Rob said my Polaris booster pump was leaking (it was leaking but not really bad) and asked if I wanted it fixed. I said okay and he rebuilt it right then and there. The rebuild kit cost about $8.00 so most of the work was labor. It took him about 1/2 an hour.
I had trouble paying because Adam could not take my AmEx & after 3 phone attempts, he stopped by to physically get my card. It still did not go through. I called AmEx who told me no charges were coming though or being denied by them. I then gave Adam my VISA (which I do not like using) & the charge finally went through.
Here's what happened after that:
1) Two days later, I called Adam because the booster pump I had just paid $70.00 to repair was still leaking. I got Rob's phone number, who proceeded to ask me where the leak was coming from. I told him I really could not tell. He came back out a day or two later & "fixed" it again. It took about 5 minutes.
2) One or two days after that, I called again because it was STILL leaking. Again, Rob came out a day or two later & "fixed" it again. Again, 5 minutes.
3) One or two days later I called both Adam and Rob to tell them it was still leaking. I wanted Adam to know because he was who I paid. I got voice mail for both men & left messages telling them it was annoying because I'd paid $70.00 but it was still leaking after 3 fixes. I also texted them about it.
4) After 3 or 4 days, Rob came out to "fix" again. This time my son was there. Rob looked at the booster pump and said I had a leaky drain plug. He said the plug was warped from being 6 years old & that I needed a new one, which he didn't have in his truck. I asked if I got a new drain plug would that fix my leak? He said yes. Meanwhile, my son started looking at the pump & pointed out another leak to Rob. My son said Rob then tightened a hose connection & that the leak stopped. But the drain plug leak was still there.
5) After Rob left, I went over to check out the Booster Pump. Here's what I saw: there was one new Quick Connect installed on the outlet. The inlet still had an old Quick Connect & was slightly leaking. The drain plug was slightly leaking. I got online and for $9.50, I bought both parts. They're being shipped as I write this. I plan on installing both.
As for my heat pump, that was a slightly different rabbit hole.
1) The very first day, I had told Rob I could order the V-clamp and O-Ring. He said he had a distributor and could order through them. So I gave him the Waterco parts list.
2) During all the back and forth's trying to fix the booster pump, I asked about the parts. It was about 7 days after he received the parts list, but Rob still had not ordered my parts. He said he was too busy. He promised to do in the next couple of days. I was annoyed because I could easily ordered myself. They were very inexpensive parts!
3) On the 4th booster pump trip, Rob said he found out the parts were difficult to buy and they had to be ordered from Malaysia. Lead time: 90 DAYS! I told him I would find the parts myself.
4) I found the O Ring after emailing the Manufacturer in Canada (Waterco). They had the O-Ring but not the clamp. The O-Ring cost was $4.05 for one O-Ring. Waterco said shipping for the O-Ring would be $51.62 & that I would have to pay for customs (tariff)! Over $55.00 for a $4.00 O-Ring? No thanks. I was certain I could find one in the US. So I asked Waterco for the dimensions of the O Ring. They provided them.
5) I got online and bought five (minimum order was 5) AS568A-366 Buna-N Multipurpose O-Rings for $4.62 + $5.26 shipping = $9.88. The O Rings arrived in 2 days. I bought some silicone at Amazon.
So now am I going to hire Adam & Rob to take my heat pump apart & install the O-Ring that I bought? Not after the 4 - 5 trip Booster scenario. I don't want to go through all that again. I'm a 61 year old woman & I'll try to fix it it myself. If I can't fix it, I'll look for somebody else to hire.
Adam came out that very day. He was very helpful, very informative, and very easy to work with. He applied the chemicals we needed, explained what he was doing and why, and talked to us about how to proceed on our own. Blue Diamond's prices were very reasonable. We feel their service is worthy of being listed on Angie's List, and we would definitely recommend them to others. They appear to take every job personally, and to take a great deal of pride in their work. Adam answered all of our questions, and on behalf of Blue Diamond Pool Service has gone beyond the norm in being helpful to us as new pool owners.
