We (and the pets) were greeted in a friendly manner by the front desk staff, and they immediately called back for the Tech to let her know that we were there. After about 10 minutes, they called the Tech again to remind her that we were still waiting. While waiting, an emergency came in, but we were still able to leave within 30-40 minutes. Since we were only there for injections, we did not interact with any of the vets on this visit.

Response from Animal Medical Center
"Thank you, Ms. [Member Name Removed], for your kind words. We value feedback from owners (and pets) - both positive and negative. One affirms what we're doing well, and the other lets us know what we need to work on to improve. We look forward to seeing you and your pets again. And have great (and safe) holidays! Thank you!"

Both pets received a thorough annual check up. One was having some allergy issues, which was addressed by the doctor. Doctor advised what labs were recommended for my pets, based upon their health history. I was provided with the cost of the recommended lab work. Doctor was professional and treated my pets very well, as did the vet tech that did our initial work up. AMC is an excellent clinic and they do have emergency hours which is a plus.

They are extremely thorough and treat your pet like a person. The facility is top notch and everyone that works there is very professional. My only bad comment would be that the prices are much higher than other vets in our area and at times they are a little too liberal on the test they run and the cost therefore is higher unnecessarily.

We just moved here from Indiana. Our dog had a growth on his eyelid that had grown since we moved. We took him to the vet and saw Dr. Nicholls. He was wonderful. He got down on the floor and played with Freckles while examining his eye. He advised it be removed and we agreed. They gave us an estimate of $364. and that was what we paid. Since his surgery today, the Doctor has called 3 times to give us information and ask how Freckles was doing. I would highly recommend their services. To feel the trust we felt from the very start was a great feeling.

"Thank you for your positive feedback, Member. We are so happy that Freckles is doing well and look forward to seeing him again at his next check. More than likely, Dr. Nicholls will get down in the floor with Freckles again! Thank you!"

The procedure (which was an amputation of the tail at this time) went well. No complications outside the normal pain. he spent the night in the hospital as a precaution. He is back home now recovering and doing well.

We did a considerable amount of investigation after a bad experience with another vet. Everyone I asked told me that AMC was excellent and the only complaint I heard was that they were too expensive. As you can see from my rating, I disagree. While you may spend a lot on care here, the care is of such high quality that I consider it a deal. Furthermore, raw materials like drugs and specialty foods are priced similar to what I've found elsewhere -- it's really just the services that are priced to reflect the high quality of care.

I am a doctor specializing in critical care medicine and have toured the care areas and had extensive medical discussions with Dr. Nelson. I would say that the overall effort at AMC is to provide pets with the level of care that has traditionally been limited to humans. The front office staff is very attentive and concerned with keeping on schedule. The vet techs are very friendly with both the people and animals. The facility is modern and well maintained with advanced technology and medications readily available. In addition to providing scheduled medical care, they also provide emergency services with a doctor on-site 24/7. The have grooming and boarding available, but I have not used these services.

We have primarily dealt with Dr. Nelson who is extremely smart and capable. One of our dogs has a genetic condition that causes her to get numerous mast cell tumors. Dr. Nelson has removed approximate 15 of these in two surgeries, including one located right next to her eye. Despite the difficult location, he was able to get clean margins without harming the eye and even achieving an excellent cosmetic result (I have to tell people where the tumor was because you can't see the scar at all). He is deeply dedicated to his profession and clearly stays very up-to-date on the latest developments. Despite his extensive knowledge-base and experience, he was also quite willing to consult with oncologists at several vet schools when I sought an experimental treatment to suppress the mast cell tumor formation in our dog (rather than continuing with conventional surgery-based therapy indefinitely). This will be an ongoing problem for our dog, but we are extremely satisfied with AMC so far and are confident that they are the best in the area.

Excellent overall. Dr Nichols & his staff explained in detail their services and followed up afterwards to make sure everything was going well. High quality veterinarian care at an extremely fair fee.
