"To start off Sheila and [Member Name Removed] called me in August to get a deck done. They explained that they had some other contractor friend that was going to do it and didn't have time. I went out to look at job and gave an estimate for the deck only with no railing. Customer explained they didn't have enough funds to do railing and deck. Once I sent estimate I received a call back with in a few days asking when I could start. I tried to work with them the best I could and put them ahead of a few other customers, because they were in a real big hurry and a little pushy to get it done. we went and set 5 footings about 4 1/2- 5 feet in the ground on compacted gravel. They were set precast and ready for new deck. We then went back the following Monday to build it in the pouring rain no less, since we don't let the weather slow us down like other contractors. While we were there they then wanted me to add the railing. Which I had to reschedule ahead of more customers since they gave me little warning. We completed the deck and they were very happy. I explained to them that the dirt around the footings would settle and that is normal. More dirt could be easily be added in the spring after the thaw. Customer was very impressed with the footings and process of installing them when with did it. I sent invoice for all work and they asked me to come back to change a board because of a splinter. I said I could and it would be couple weeks since they were quite a ways out of town. Sheila said that was fine and that she would mail a check for half and pay some cash and some on Credit Card. Asked her to mail check which never received. there was a little bit of texting back and forth to coordinate a time to go out there. I then called a week later or so at about 730 in evening to get the credit card and let her know I could stop out and change the board, which was now 2 boards. [Member Name Removed] answered the phone and explained that he was kind of drunk and probably wouldn't be much help. Caught me off guard and I proceeded to try to explain the answers to any questions. she was in background yelling at him and would not get on the phone. Lots of curse words between the two on the phone. Said to pay Balance but since I had no real confirmation on what they wanted other than $4000, I asked for card number and ran it for the balance plus 3%. It was very hard for me to try to be professional when I was talking to someone that could not speak or use the proper curtesy . Customer explained while were there working that they get drunk a lot. I decided after that phone call to not proceed with any other work for them and leave it be. I did not go and change any boards because I did not want to send any one of my employees into a hostile situation. I refunded only $100 which was some of the fees, which are fully explained in my estimate which they signed. The pictures they attached do not represent the quality of the job done. They are simply picking out very small flaws in the wood, other than the one single bolt that was missed which I was more than happy to change out. I can't make every deck board with o knots of splinters, its wood, not a composite. we save the best boards for railing and areas that show. I cant prevent them from splitting after installation. All railings are secured with screws and if they split while installing, we change them. The corner piece in their photos is of normal standard and not of any problem. they simply took a real close up pic to try to diminish my deck quality. In ending, We did a great job on the deck and customers where very happy with job well done at completion. I have three employees that will vouch for that. Funny how people change there minds so fast, to try to be mean. Also I hire younger kids that I see great potential in and can be trained in a skill, Not just teenagers that don't know anything and flip burgers."
Perfection's business has boomed. They have been doing much bigger things now. They are doing whole houses now. They that much of a good job that people have called on them more and more.
The overall experience was good. I think the price, it seemed high to me but it was fair.for the amount of work he had to do. He was very careful to explain what he was doing so that I knew exactly what I was buying.
He came when scheduled and worked until he was done. I think he was very professional. You have to separate that out from the grumpiness. You never know what causes grumpiness. There is no question that he was clear in his direction on what he was doing and took the time to explain to me how the circuit worked when he was done. He didn't leave a mess and cleaned everything up.
I would use him again but I don't have anything going until next year then I'm gonna have a kitchen and a couple of bathroom remodels to do. I will definitely call on him for that.
"Sorry if I ever seem grumpy. Don't want to come across that way. Most of it is focus. I get real focused on a task and how to do something and when someone starts to talk or ask some questions I might ignore them for a sec so I can get my thoughts planned out. Some jobs just have lots of challenges and they need lots of thought. Glad I could help on the garage. Thanks Chad"
"Everything worked out great. What a interesting homeowner built set of doors that was there. but the new doors are in great and insulated real well. All was sealed up and trimmed out as needed. Thank you and look forward to helping you in the future."
"The ramp worked out great. took some planning and know how to make the ramp fit in the small area. Glad to help. Hopefully we can construct the new addition in the future to help out the homeowners needs. Thanks Chad"
"This job went very well. got everything done on time and on budget. We nail every shingle down with the required amount to pass the highest wind rating. If they do blow off we will be repair with in the first year. Thank you for being good customer."
"Everything worked perfectly for that small set of stairs. [Member Name Removed] is planning a house addition in the future which we will be working with her to construct and finish."
"I did not overcharge for the Job. There were Extra cost in labor for Two layers of shingle. Also some extra cost for extra vents. There were also extra costs for dump fees due to the second layer of shingle. I made it very clear to the husband that there will be additional costs. The estimate was sent to the customer over a month prior to any acceptance. The shingle in the original bid was 3 bundles per square. we ended up using 4 bundle per square. At the time I went to get materials the 3 bundle shingles were out and we were limited to 4 bundle shingles. Customer claims that I over charged for shingle, which is not the case, it just takes more bundles to cover the same square area. Customer was also very unfriendly at the time of invoice. There were only 13 extra bundles of shingle that were not in the original bid. Everything else I made clear to husband on the first day. Additionally. Customer stated on numerous occasions that they would get me a signed bid. bid wasn't signed and delivered until we already started job. We are a professional company and strive to satisfy all customers."
"House was not constructed up to normal building standards. Did the best I could at leveling the floor to eliminate the slope to the middle. Would of liked to improve the structure but would of taken lots of funds to do so. Thank You"
"Thank You. We did get it all done and on budget. sorry for the long delay, but customers agreed to get work done later in the year."
"All there work is done on time and on budget. most inspection lists require quick response and completion. we provide all that to satisfy both realtors and new home buyers. Thank You"
"Simple job. Offered to raise the tank and pour a slab but customer did not want to do that at this time. We added some blocking and stabilized tank. Thank You"
"He was planning on doing the rear deck which I gave and estimate for. I mentioned the flashing at the bottom the door will be best done with the new deck. also I mentioned he needed gutters. Something that I have another contractor do. I gave him the number to that gutter contractor. The interior trim is easlily cut with a small hand saw or utility saw. its always better to have the piece longer than needed. We cut them all the time with out removing. Also [Member Name Removed] the customer left about 2/3 of the way through the job to got to work. His wife was there and never mentioned any of these complaints which I would of gladly advised my solution."
Too bad, because most of the work was well done.
Put "Perfection" on the business card; I didn't find it in the work or the communication that followed.
"I gave (Member Name Removed) an estimate, and it took him more than a few weeks to accept it. We performed the work and he was happy with how it looked and was done. About 6 months later I received a phone call from (Member Name Removed) and he mentioned the corner of plastic near the water line was loose. I told him that was a spot that may come loose and you could just stick it back up or re glue it. He insisted on me taking time out of my busy day to come look at this which was clearly just a simple fix he could of done. And I explained that over the phone. As for the court case, it is really none of his business. We had done some work for another customer in Eagle river and she was very happy but said she didn't have the money so we stopped the job, and the court case was so that I could get paid. Being a homeowner has some responsibility to take care of your house, or property over the time that you own it. (Member Name Removed)seems not to take on any responsibility to handle small things that may arise. This was a small and simple fix he could of done on his own, at little or no cost. I'm rather discussed that you would take my company name and throw it in the dirt. I take pride in my company and try to answer every customers complaints and repairs as needed. I know (Member Name Removed) could of took the responsibility to re stick the piece of plastic up and he decided that he was not going to. If I have caused you any problems I apologize for that. I don't offer guarantees and I have no Idea what he stored down in the crawl space after we left. The crawl space is not a storage area and should not be entered unless for a service task. As for that; Some one else could have went down there and caused the plastic to come off. There is no statements or way of knowing at this point who or what caused it."
"This was a rather challenging deck in the way that the arctic entry was attached to the house and sitting on the old deck. We managed to strap up the entry and build a new deck under it perfectly so the entry could be let to sit on the new deck. All turned out great and customer was satisfied. Deck was built out of all treated lumber. Glad to be able to complete another great deck for a Wasilla Alaskan."
They did a beautiful job with the new lighting and 2 coats of paint throughout all my living areas, and really spent time on the little details. Once the began the project, they showed up when they planned, and stayed with it until it was done and cleaned up. They estimated 3 days, and worked hard to make sure they 'were done on time, which I greatly appreciated. I've used them before on an outdoor project, and will definitely use them again this summer, and have already recommended them to others.
"I like working for [member name removed]. Very nice and helpful. Tried to be as honest as possible for helping her pick the right colors. Everything turned out great. I enjoy painting and making a new bright change in someone's house. Your very welcome [member name removed] and thanks for the lunches too"
"Thank you for your continued business. I enjoy working for you and making your house your home. PS I try not to spend all your money."
