The crews were friendly, professional, and on time. They did a great job and even suggested an additional area to be fixed while doing the ground work which greatly improved the job. Also helped load a couple of trees I chose to remove and loaded and hauled off the branches. Great job.

MJM came in ahead of schedule and under budget!

The paving was done August, 2016, in two phases. First was the preparation, which included stripping back grass sod that had encroached as much as a foot onto the 30 year old driveway, then excavation of an 11' x 27' trailer parking pad to the side of the house including installing a gravel base, and grading it and an additional parking area along a stone wall, topped off by compacting the new areas to be paved with a vibratory roller. The second phase a few days later was the actual paving with asphaltic concrete - aka "blacktop". The large crew arrived about 11:00 AM with a pavement laying machine and covered dump trucks with the hot blacktop inside. Watching - and photographing - the crew work was really interesting and it was obvious they were an experienced team that cared about the quality of their end product. They were all done by 3:00 PM, and Max, the owner of MJM, gave me instruction regarding how long to let the paving set before driving on it, and a booklet about paving in general. When the crew left the job site, every thing was clean and litter free. My wife and I couldn't be more pleased with the beautiful quality of the work.

MJM was very good to work with and we were getting the financing together for the Asphalt. They were able to work this while I was home. MJM showed up the first day on time as planned and they were very quick to get the driveway leveled and compacted. They came back the following day on time and got the paving equipment set up. The Crew working with Mike and Max were very good at what they were doing there was good communication among the group and very quick at laying the pavement down. I thought they did a great job and I will probably have these guy come back and do so more paving for me in the future.

I chose MJM because they had the price in the middle of the other quotes I received, and their proposal was descriptive about the work they would preform. After selecting MJM to replace the driveway, I feel the customer service plummeted.

When I called with questions I got the feeling they were irritated and was inconveniencing them. MJM did always thank me for my business. When I received the confirmation of proposed work I had to remind them I also wanted the seal coating done. I never recieved a confirmation call from MJM to let me know when the work would begin. I had to call. I was informed that they would start the next morning; not much warning. The workers were friendly, but I can't say many of them demonstrated an enjoyment of their work. Much of the work appeared to be done haphazardly, such as uneven spreading of base gravel. Once the paving was completed, I was told they were done. I asked about the seal coating and it came as a surprise to the workers that I had requested the additional service. I was told it would be done at a later date.

Several weeks past and I again had not heard from MJM. I called to ask about the seal coating. At first it seemed to be a surprise but then I got an explaination they were waiting on the right weather conditions. This sounded like a reasonable answer, but why not let me know? A few days later they showed up to complete the work.

Within the year I noticed heaves and cracks already forming on the new driveway. I called MJM to ask if there was anything I could do to reduce this. The answer I received was simple. "This is Alaska, the ground moves". So there is nothing I can do, I asked. No was the answer. I appreciated and understand the ground moves in Alaska, however all the contractors I have had over to my home since, have commented on the already crumbeling driveway. Additionally they had recommendations of things I could do to protect my driveway. To me this shows me MJM, has very little pride in their work, and is more interested in just getting the work done and finding the next job.

My biggest complaint about MJM is the total lack of communication with their customers.
