I called Friday and on Saturday he came out and gave me a price. On Monday he ordered the materials and started the job on Tuesday. They finished a few days later on Saturday. They spoke to me every afternoon to give me a progress report on the work done that day. He added a touch of craftsmanship to the stairs and we were very pleased with the finished product.

We are extremely happy with our experience with Southern Master Craftsman, and we will certainly be hiring Todd and his crew for more work in the future.  Our home features a large, elevated, wrap-around deck that unfortunately has become quite worn and in need of replacement, and we finally decided to begin the expensive process of getting it replaced in 3 separate phases.  Our budget won't allow us to replace the entire deck at once, so we brought in Todd to tear down and rebuild the section we called "Phase 1," and we will have him back to do the same work on Phase 2 and 3 over the next several months.
Todd came across as very competent and professional from the very beginning, and I was thrilled to receive such a detailed proposal/quote for all 3 phases of work so quickly after he came out to discuss the job and understand exactly what work we wanted done.  We actually wound up meeting a couple more times before signing a contract and it meant a lot to us that Todd was patient and thorough when answering each question we asked.
The portion of the old deck we had torn away was roughly 8ft x 16ft, and the new deck is stretched out to roughly 12ft x 16ft.  The elevation off the ground varies between 9ft - 11ft, so it's not exactly easy work and I knew I would need someone who knew what they were doing.
Todd and his crew started working exactly when they said they would, although the weather wasn't so cooperative for the first 2-3 days.  I happened to be out of town for the first few days as well but Todd was kind enough to email daily pictures and updates on what they were able to accomplish each day, and we talked by phone anytime something came up that he needed to ask me about.
The new deck was finished in a very timely fashion and the end results are positively awesome.  The build quality and craftsmanship are second to none, and like I said I will CERTAINLY be hiring Todd to complete the remaining phases over the next several months.  I will be recommending Todd to any of my friends and family in the future if I learn they have home improvement needs.

The work was exquisite!   The porch floor and ceiling were stained to match.  They put screen under the porch to help keep the bugs out.  They put crown molding on the ceiling that made the porch have a beautiful finish!  We are thrilled with their work and will call on them again with our next project!

We called for an estimate.  They came the next day.  The estimate was agreed upon and a contract was signed.  When payment was made, the contract was signed noting payment.  The work was done with great care.  I trusted them to be at our house when scheduled and to do the work that was planned.  We even left our house key with them when we had to be away.  They set the alarm on the house when they left for the day, if we were not home.  If for some reason they were not going to make it (We had several snow events during the process.) they called to let us know why they weren't going to be there and when they would return.  They only missed 3 days during the 3 months of the work, and that was because of snow and bad roads.  At the end of each day they cleaned up, swept, vacuumed, carried out any trash, and stacked up their equipment in order that it was out of our way.  We will definitely use them again in the future!
