KIRBY CO

Beware of Kirby calling you to say that you were selected in a drawing to win a free cleaning/shampooing of one room plus two pieces of furniture! I'd entered a drawing at a local home show. When I received a call saying that I'd been selected, I specifically asked if there were any strings attached. I was told no. Over the next couple of weeks, at my husband's insistence, I spoke with Kirby's office twice more to specifically clarify that there were no requirements and was assured both times that there were not. Today the serviceman arrived (1-1/2 hours late) and hauled his cleaning equipment in. He saw that I was in my office and asked if he should come back at a later date when I'd have time to watch him. Come to find out, I was required to watch the entire 2 hour cleaning. I called the Kirby office while he waited and informed them that he would not be staying and asked that next time someone directly inquires whether there are any strings attached, that they inform them that the customer is required to watch the entire cleaning procedure. Call me naive, but...
