Propane Sales Services
I have two trasnportable tanks that are not very old and are in great condition. The tech at Amerigas spilled substantial propane when filling my tanks (leaks in filling apparatus). This was metered propane that I paid for. To wit, the capacity of a 40 lb tank is 9.4 gal, but Amerigas managed to put 9.5 gal in it. Twice! I asked to have my bill reduced as the leak was their fault, but the clerk refused. Similarly, I found a leak in gas plumbing they did for an an underground tank at my residence. I smelled the odorant at the regulator on the side of the house one day and called thier office. They did send a service tech who replaced the regulator. More recently, I smelled the odorant at the tank. I called and reported this, but they've not sent a service tech to check and repair. I recommend Crowley for propane - not Amerigas

Grill Repair
I arrived just as they were closing for lunch. I sat in my car and read a book. The office staff returned at 1:00. I entered their reception area and mentioned a UPS driver had stopped by and would return in the afternoon. I stated my interest to buy a new 100 lb tank, pre-filled with propane. I was told me it would have to be loaded before I could pay for it.
I went outside with their yard guy. He refused to load the cylinder citing a national fire code rule against carrying a cylinder horizontally. I was surprised as other employees at the same store had done so in years past.
I left without buying anything and feeling somewhat cheated. It was a wasted trip as well as a semi-wasted hour that I could have done something worthwhile. The office people recognize me and know what kind of car I drive. Why didn't the office staff tell me they wouldn't allow me to carry the cylinder horizontally?
Propane at Amerigas costs ten cents more per gallon than at Crowley - all of 300 yards away on Van Horn.
