VCA East Anchorage Animal Hospital

SUGAR UPDATE: This morning VCA East Anchorage Animal Hospital tried to force us to sign a surgery agreement with over $1000 additional charges after signing original agreement at $1474 one day before her surgery. They tried to add additional testing we choose not to have which would have made the bill over $2200. We questioned the malicious intent to VCA Animal Hospitals and they vindictively cancelled her surgery with a donation deposits for her surgery with $265 outstanding balance due tomorrow that we were going to finalize per their agreement. Meleah Fowler, Office Manager, intentionally slander our family to VCA Corporate. My past experience with her when I was 15yo working for VCA, she verbally abused me at work as a minor and was my first job. Fast forward, Then took out her grudge for over 25 yrs on Sugar by denying her a surgery without the veterinarians approval or knowledge of changing the estimate after being signed and agreed upon. They also refused to hold to the contract and agreement set forth on her last appointment, including trying to charge us additional $240 for a process that was already paid for. We are currently seeking a new doctor on Feb 15 with a renown Doctor that has helped our Rugers passing and our First Alaskan dog, Boomer, saving his dog via emergency blood transfusion. Please pray for resolution. We were not going to get bullied into more charges from greedy company and doctor from VCA.

I think they're fine. I've never had any problems with them. I think they're very caring. I think it's a very caring facility. I've never had to wait.

I've visited many of the vets in this city and have found Dr. Kiel to be the most open minded and at the same time, knowledgable vet I've met. I feel she cares more about my pets than she does the contents of my purse. Not true of many vets in this city.

Not as smoothly as usual but this is my normal vet service and they have always been wonderful with our pets. I had called in asking for information regarding treating motion sickness in a dog and they provided me with a number of options. I was really impressed with Dr. Keels expertise, kindness and restraint. She didn't order unnecessary tests or expensive procedures that come to naught.

After a week we notice that the puppy was having difficulty to urine. We call the vet and requested for apt but the vet prescribed an antibiotic, letting us know that this was common in puppies. She also mention she will call us on Thursday to check on the puppy. On Thursday we also drop off the puppies fecal in a rush and we left forgetting to pay. No one call us. On Monday we called the clinic and ask for another apt since the puppy is not doing well and we also ask if her fecal was ok. To our surprise the front desk told us that we did not pay so they did not process. We were so surprised because they could have called us and told us, we could have paid by phone or swing by to pay. And upto Tuesday the vet did not even call to check on the puppy. The puppy is not doing well at all. I have made apt with another clinic hoping for the best.

To update of what happen to my puppy because of the neglect VCA has been. I brought my puppy to Pet emergency and the vet did couple of test to find that the puppy has Porto systemic Shunt. I am very very upset with VCA for not taking any responsible when we called regards to the urine problem. We called yesterday and inform VCA East Anchorage that we are removing all our 3 dogs from their system and moving them to another vet clinic. To my surprised the front desk did not even bother to ask any reason or explanation. Very bad service from the front desk up to the vets there. I will never recommend anyone to use VCA at all.

My dog was cared for at another vets office for 3 years. She is a friendly, happy dog who likes everyone. I even took her to the classes to be a therapy dog because she likes people so much. The last time I took her to the old office, the doctor was abrupt, quick moving, demanding, and did not have a calm demeanor. She made my dog uncomfortable. My dog was under my chair and the doctor got on her knees and started poking at my dog and getting angry because she was hiding. Untimately, my dog snapped at her. She didn't bite, but snapped. They placed all the blame on my dog and she was labeled as and quot;Fear Agressiveand quot;. Since that time I haven't been able to approach her with a pair of toenail clippers or look in her ears, or even look at her feet. This doctor did a number on her.
When I took her in for her first visit to her new vet at the VCA East Anchorage Animal Hospital, it was amazing!!!! Dr. Keele had to draw blood from her and I requested she lightly sedate her because her last experience was so tramatic. She asked for permission to try it without the sedation and I reluctantly agreed. She was gone with her for 5 minutes and brought her back with the blood drawn and toenails clipped! There hadn't been a sound on the other side of the door and my little girl was wagging her tail! I will forever be grateful to Dr. Keele for assuring my dog that doctors are kind and loving and for giving me the peace of mind that I am doing all I can to be a good dog owner. Thank you so very much!!!!!!!

When my husband and I arrived we took our dogs to be spayed. They were well cared for and recovered quickly. They've also recieved treatment for a stomach bug, allergic skin reactions, dental cleanings, and regualr checkups. We had to leave our dogs with family (out of state) when we deployed, but when we came back the staff and Dr. Mario Townsend remebered our dogs and it was as if they'd never been gone! They are very accomidating to our schedules and are very detailed in their treatment and explainations. Best vet we've had! (although they are a little pricey)

They are excellent. I have been using them for years. They are very good and very conscientious. They are a little pricey. I don't know what other vet may charge.

I see Dr. Mario Townsend there. We have seen him for about 14 years.

They are good and friendly. They have flexible hours.

We like that they will board pit bulls. They will board our pit bulls together in the same kennel, which I also like because some places won't board them together. They do offer a military discount. The only negative, and I don't even know if it is a negative is that they are closed on Sunday. So, if you are gone and want to pick up your pet on Sunday, you have to wait until Monday. They close at 7pm during the week. This is the second time we have boarded with them. Our dogs are comfortable with them. It is nice to know that is a veterinary clinic and there are vets on hand should we need that. The first time that we boarded them they wanted to make sure our dogs were all up to date on their shots before accepting them. They took care of the shots they were missing on arrival for boarding, this was very convenient.
