Built new town home. Most things went as expected. On several occasions (because we went with atypical finishes) stressful situations accrued with us having to make quick last minute decisions. but for the most part things went well. The house is good. A few cosmetic defects (they fixed most of them).

Overall it went very well. I asked that they not start until May 1 and they had finished by late September or early October.

Right away there were indications that things would not go smoothly. The builder tacked on a 1300 charge for the sliding glass door in the rear of the house because dispite it being a standard feature in every home built, it was not "on the plan" so it was extra.
The amount of outlets was minimal and not enough for an average user, same for phone jacks, and cable jacks each one being Extra. To run gas for a dryer was an extra charge, to put in a garage door opener was twice what one could get it as Sears, the same could be said of ceiling fans, hanging lights, and faucet fixtures.
The windows installed are not rated for the area.
The Door locks don't line up.
The builder "Forgot" to put some of the upgrades on the final bill and hit me with the extra charge close to completion threatening to delay completion if I insisted on what I wanted when we orginally agreed to my upgrades.
I was not asked to make selections for lighting or what company I was to use for my selections until I inquired about it, it was then treated as an emergency and I had to take time off work to make the selection.
I was told the house would be completed by late July but completion is now scheduled for late August and no one can tell me what the delay was. It wasn't the weather, we have only had two days of rain since construction began.
This is the third house I have had built and the worst experience. I would not recommend this builder for a dog house.

"Spinell Homes is Alaska's largest home builder, building over 2500 homes in the Anchorage and Mat-Su Valley since 1987. After this many homes it is safe to say we have a program that works. Spinell Homes does everything it can during the construction process to ensure its buyers are well informed and comfortable with their purchase. Even before a contract is signed we make available all documents showing standard features and available options and upgrades so a potential buyer may make decisions on their future home. Prior to actual construction we personally meet with buyers to go over their selections, make changes, and advise them of the process of construction - where and when to make selections and generally what to expect for the next several months. We know that much information is given at this time and may be forgotten down the line, so we also give buyers many documents to refer to during construction. We encourage our buyers to read these documents and ask questions when needed. Unfortunately it is impossible to go over every item that is NOT included in the home - this list could go on and on forever. Some buyers are disappointed with some features not being included as "standard." This is how we keep our home prices the most affordable. Many people are happy to purchase homes without amenities they feel are "extra." Others might find these amenties "essential." It is all a matter of personal taste, and we make these options and upgrades available to purchase. In conclusion, we encourage our buyers to discuss their concerns with us personally. We may not be able to make everyone 100% satisfied but we ask that they let us try. In the event a buyer is completely dissatisfied with us we would of course not require that they proceed with the purchase of the home. In the end we want all of our buyers to be happy homeowners!"
