Wasn't " speedy". Took 3 weeks to get glass, then 3 hours to put in

I got three bids on that job and the other bids were almost twice as much. That was a special order; it was a shower surround, so we had to order the glass and wait for it to come in, so it was about six weeks all together. The workers were very professional. They cleaned up after themselves and didn't leave smudges on the glass.

The most recent experience with Speedy was to have a rock chip in my van windshield repaired under warranty from a windshield replacement in Sept 2013. Got an appointment within 12 hours and they took about 20 minutes to repair it. Friendly and efficient staff now and in past for auto windshield work.

A window in my house was cracked so I just needed the glass replaced. I called Speedy Glass and they told me it would take up to 3 days for someone to contact me but then someone called me back that same day to schedule a measurement. They came in the next day to measure the window. The guy was actually about 10 minutes early so it surprised me a little but was way better than showing up late. The measuring took about 10 minutes and he was very polite. He told me I would be called with an estimate. They called back that same day with an estimate. I called back to let them know I wanted to go forward and they said it would take 3 days for the window to be made and they would call to schedule an install. Sure enough, 3 days later they called to schedule the install. At that time, they took a credit card number to have on file but said it would not be charged and that I could pay a different way after the install if I wanted to. I scheduled the install. They came on time for the install and within an hour my window was fixed. I asked if I paid at that time and he said someone would be contacting me. I wasn't contacted but a few days later, my credit card was charged for the amount of the estimate. That was the only drawback to this experience - thinking I was going to be contacted for payment and then just being charged. I'm not sure if it was the cheapest deal in town but it was quick and pretty much hassle-free.

This is the first A-rated Angies List company that does not merit its high rating. I surmise there has been a change in ownership as the people manning the business have different names from the previous review. I should have trusted my instinct and left when I first walked in and mentioned that I had an appointment and the technician replied, "Your appointment is good as long as it is before I clock out." It's not so much what was said but the way it was said. The windshield was replaced and two days later it started making this loud sound whenever I drove higher than 50 mph or when there's cross wind (as when trucks would come from the other direction). I went and took back the vehicle and they acted annoyed (like I enjoy taking time off work to see them?!). The technician pretty much faulted everything except his work, telling me that he installs some 200 windshields a month (maybe some people enjoy driving at 40 mph, who knows but I only cared about my install). They resealed the stripping and said that this should take care of it. It happens again. I took a minute and 15 second video of the whole thing as proof and take it back to show the manager. He tells me, "so it whistles, huh?" Whistle?! It sounded more like howler monkeys got loose in the vehicle. There were two other customers behind me so it helped that they wanted me out of there and made me an appointment to redo the whole install which fixed the issue. At first I thought it might just be the branch but I have strong reservations against the whole speedy franchise. Try calling their toll free number and you might get through twice out of 10 tries. It has a "chat" option that is offline 24x7 and when I sent an e-mail, I never got a response back. Their prices are about $50 less than the competitors but as per my expreience, the adage- you get what you pay for held true on this one.
