I was having trouble with it. We've used them for years.

On the recommendation of neighbors on "next-door" and Angie's list reviews, I brought my vehicle to Sand Lake Auto. My first impression over the phone was good and they were able to identify the cause of the stalling and repair the AC system in under 3 hours without my having a prior appointment. I found them easy to work with and respectful. I will be using them again.

1990 Ford F350 pickup.  Had electrical problems for over a year - took it to two other shops and were unsuccessful.  Wife took it to Sand Lake, they were very professional and got repairs done in two days (including ordering parts).  Thought the total cost was fair, considering what needed to be done.  Did a comprehensive safety check for no additional cost.
Will definitely use them again.

I met the owner and he listed to the engine with a mechanic's stethascope in the parking lot. He said he believed the sound was in the bottom half of the engine and around cylinder's 3 and 4. I explained that I had done a compression test and all 6 cylinders passed with flying colors so I knew it wasn't piston or valve seat related. We both agreed it didn't sound like a deep clunk that would be present with a broken piston arm and I told him I was leaning towards a tappet sound, he countered that he hears it lower in the engine.
They pulled the valve cover, inspected and listened to it. Their determination was that it was probably a wrist pin worn out and allowing a piston to chatter as it stroked. They told us it was safe to drive but wouldn't/couldn't tell us how long that would be the case. They said that the engine needed to be replaced in the near future. I paid for their time and labor, then sought another opinion.

Old 93 Pathfinder wouldn't start last summer unless I banged on the starter from underneath. Took it in and the starter needed replacement. They ordered a refurbished one and replaced it. Problem solved within 24 hours. These guys aren't the cheapest, but I trust them more than any other mechanics I have dealt with in Anchorage. I have never felt that they were trying to charge me for unnecessary repairs.

They are very good. They are knowledgeable and fair and have a good reputation. I would highly recommend them.
