Very good communicator.  He kept me fully informed of project status, issues, and unexpected problems.  The job was much larger than the insurance company inspector had estimated.  It was also more labor intensive than the contractor had estimated.  The contractor reduced his labor prices and we negotiated a fair compromise on the cost. 
As for the actual work, the contractor and his laborer arrived promptly and prepared to begin work.  Although it was extremely hot weather during the two days it took to complete the job, the contractor did not take excessive breaks.  They worked very full days until the job was completed.  When the job was finished, they cleaned up the yard, swept the porch and made sure that there was no residual trash or wood lying around. 
I've used this contractor before to replace a floor in my laundry room and to build some shelves in the garage.  He always exceeds my expectations on the quality of work he does.  I would and have recommend Northern Construction to do any work around my house.  They are licensed and bonded, but even if they were not, I believe that the owner would not tolerate any inappropriate behaviors with his laborers.  He is very straightforward and honest.
