Each time the repairs came to about $1800.
The Ford V-10 had been worked on at another shop and turned out running badly afterward. Took it in to Moore and Son's and it gave them fits until they found the spark plug gap was wrong. They would not charge for the extra time it took to find the problem, just for the repair of re-gapping the spark plugs- even though they had the van in the shop for three days
The Ford Van alternator- was told it was not the issue- other repairs were made. ($1800) and a week later the alternator went out in Chitina (major inconvenience...)
Dodge Durango Tune-up- Another $1800 bill, including fuel injector disassembly and cleanup, which if one looks up on 'service scams' is an expensive and unnecessary service which can easily be accomplished by adding fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank yourself.
Dodge Durango power steering pump- it went out again with the same problem a year later. Among a few other repairs the bill was nearly $1800.
Most answers were just so vague, but by that time my car was already in the garage.
I initially went in for leaky valve cover gaskets. I knew my car was leaking oil. That turned into having to buy a new EGR valve because they said mine was and quot;frozenand quot;.
After that I had them check the timing belt. They said that they couldn't tell and had to take parts off. By that time they said that that was most of the expense, and I should go ahead and change it. That was incorrect looking at the invoice. The timing belt was 600 dollars and the labor was 500 including the water pump that they said was also bad. After inspecting the water pump myself it noticed no leaks on it. They said that they had cleaned it off. Why clean off a bad part? Also, after receiving my used parts, I find it questionable whether my timing belt was bad at all. I am going to seek an second opinion on it.
The power steering pump was replaced because of a leak I had noticed months ago.....It still leaks to this day.
My rear window defogger was not working, so they replaced a and quot;friedand quot; part after 150 dollars of diagnosis. It now only works at about 10 percent.
I am taking the car in again to fix the fixes.
