Eighteen years ago, I had this same firm replace our roof with excellent results. I knew I could rely on their professionalism and I'm not disappointed. Nonetheless, I went out and secured two other bids from what I understood to be very reliable contractors. The estimators represented their firms in a very knowledgeable way, however, their estimates were 50% to 80% higher!
With first hand knowledge of this quality roofing contractor and an excellent price, the decision to choose General Roofing became a no brainer.
From the time I set up the appointment for the estimate (which came in a timely manner and $3000.00 under their closest competitor) to the completion of the project, Chad was very professional and also extremely personable. He has a real working- mans mentality, and a great sense of humor! When the project was complete, even though it only took a couple of days, I felt like I had known Chad for 10 years! I was treated like a real person instead of a and quot;meal-ticketand quot; with just another job. Chad came by my house at my convenience to discuss my options, and address my concerns and questions. Very knowledgable! He of course brought sample shingles with many different color and style options and we discussed these in addition to how and when he was going to perform the work. He mentioned up front that, based on the age of the roof, I may have to replace the existing plywood substrate, but we would not know for sure until the old shingles were removed.
They started the project and Chad immediately called me to come look at what they found. The old plywood was so far-gone in places, we were afraid to walk on it for fear of falling through! He said that he would try to save what he could and gave me some options to keep my cost down. As it turns out, I needed to replace all of it anyway because it was 3/8and quot; plywood and didn't meet code.
We did a change order right then and there which cost just under $2,000.00 to replace all of the substrate with new plywood and bring everything back up to code. Even with the change order, their final price was still at least $1,000.00 cheaper than their competitors!
While the new plywood was being installed, Chad worked on the roof cap for the solarium, replacing the rotted wood he found and re-anchoring the roof-cap into the house because it was sagging quite a bit.
Once the new plywood was installed, Chad and his co-worker installed the new drip-edge flashing, ice and water shield and began installing the new architectural style shingles.
The moment GRand C really shined came when they removed the plywood over the mud room. Chad again called me immediately to show me that there were carpenter ants in that corner of the roof and, that they had caused a fair but, not catastrophic amount of damage. He again gave me some options for repairs. To save some money, I opted to make the repairs myself. Chad said and quot;no problemand quot; and, that he had some cost estimating that he could catch up on, which would give me the couple of days I needed to perform the repairs. Just as promised, Chad showed up bright and early a couple of days later to finish the job. Everything worked out great!
GRand C really went above and beyond to work with me, to get the job done quickly and correctly. As I mentioned before, they treated me like a real person, answering my questions, addressing my concerns, and discussing different options. Honestly, I feel Chad would have been well within his rights to charge me extra for some of the work they did because they ran into a few surprises on this job, but he understood that I was on a pretty tight budget and was willing to work with me. GRand C turned what should have been an extremely stressful situation into a project that was, not only completed quickly, but professionally, with nothing short of AMAZING RESULTS! Thank You Chad and all at GRand C
