They are very polite. They take care of your home. They are very careful to not get dirt and such in it. If they are lacking a part, they make a call and someone drives it over, so there is no need for a return service necessary for something like that. They are kind of spendy, but they are worth it. They are on my call list.

We've been using Central Plumbing for years and not only in our own home, but on multiple rentals that we have. I've never had to call them back. They are the most expensive in town, but to my mind they're worth every penny.

Quick service, personal help on phone before they arrived was great. Heat was back on line very fast and worker cleaned up work area. I have used Central plumbing exclusively for years. They are a little more expensive but you get it back in the service and follow-up.

Gave me confidence that the furnace was good for a few more years.

Good overall. Very skilled plumbers - however, it seems the dispatch service overbooks the plumbers and they function as best as they can given the constraints.
Advice: book early in the day - our experience on 2 occasions is that plumbers are overbooked - if you schedule in the afternoon the plumber will probably arrive late and will need to hurry to leave close to 5. If they leave after 5 you may be asked to pay overtime or to pay for someone to come on another day if the job wasn't finished.

Our gas fireplace, which Central had installed about 6 years ago, wouldn't stay lit.  Called Central and they sent a technician right over.  He ran a complete diag. and replaced a bad switch.  It works fine now.

When I called I asked for a plumber, not a handyman. The only and quot;real plumberand quot; on offer was an individual who mostly did estimates [Note to self...]. He came at the appointed time and worked steadily if slowly, with me running out for necessary small parts (I supplied new faucets). The 53-yo plumbing on a wall-mounted basin was challenging (Sawsall, etc.) and accounted for the most time. The other changeout was a straightforward, if not the most convenient, modern freestanding pedestal/basin setup. He put a 3/16and quot;-wide nick in that basin, probably wrench contact, that has blossomed into a spider web of cracks over the last couple years. HE DIDN'T OWN UP TO HAVING DAMAGED THE BASIN, and I did not notice the nick for a few hours. Because I couldn't prove that he damaged the basin I didn't try to argue about it and possibly incur an additional $350 to buy and change out another basin/faucet. [Another note to self: take dated baseline photo of appliances before plumber comes.]
He wanted to charge me $740 but we settled on $686 ($92 parts and 4.75 hrs labor w/senior discount). Both new faucets have performed well for 3 years. I've occasionally used this provider in the past but probably would seek another because of the damage incident (professionalism), and on a previous project -- no up-front advice that Central charges a standard travel time that doesn't account for my relatively close proximity to the store.

UPDATE/CORRECTION 8/4/13: SINCEREST APOLOGIES TO CENTRAL PLUMBING and HEATING -- the subject service was indeed provided by Anchorage Plumbing and Heating.

The job was done quickly and efficiently with no problems. I was informed when I made an appointment that the hourly rate was $145. However, I was not informed that the hourly rate was NOT prorated. Therefore, I paid from the time I got the call stating the repair driver was on the way until the work was done (30 minutes).To replace the $7.50 part, it cost $152.50 because I had to pay for 1 hour of labor not 30 minutes of labor. There was no time given when I made the appointment, only sometime during the day. The job was done about in the AM which was not too bad.
