Description of Work: I bought a car with a claimed cracked cylinder/blown head gasket at an auction. I had nothing but the one year old maintenance records to go with. Because Mike Borman specializes in Ford SUV's and 4WD/AWD vehicles amongst other brands, and was close to the pick-up location of my newly acquired car, I decided to check them (Borman Auto Repair) out. |If there is one thing true about this shop - it doesn't look professional or organized at all. If it wouldn't have been for various good reviews here on Angie's List, I would have never set a foot in his shop. |I decided to go for it and see what he (Mike) has to say. He was not only available, but also willing to troubleshoot the car first, before taking my word for it. |As it turned out, the car was/is just fine. |Mike could have very easily replaced the entire engine and make some good money by getting a good engine in the process. |Instead, he spent almost two hours test-driving it himself and look at everything closely. |And when asked how much I would owe him, he declined any compensation. |If his garage/shop would actually look like those fancy and expensive maintenance facilities (i.e. Ford, Subaru, etc.), he wouldn't even need any reviews vouching for him. |Thanks again to Mike Borman and his team - Andreas Hermansky

 + -1 moreI went to the second facility who checked the front end and found 3 bad Tie Rod ends, replace them and aligned the front end. Problem solved.
Description of Work: Attempted to diagnose front end shimmy. Advised me that there were no mechanical issues and then referred me to another facility to have the front end aligned.

 + -1 moreFuel pump failure in middle of RV trip in Alaska. Dave and John at NAPA. Went to shop at 3pm and Mike was going to stay late so he could get us back on the road. We made arrangements for the next day at 1000. We arrived at 0930 and by 1200 the pump was replaced and the trailer hitch was repaired. The service was excellent, the staff friendly and accommodating and I am happy to be back on the road to continue my adventure in Alaska. I highly recommend Borman Auto Repair.

 + -1 moreWe have had numerous auto repairs done with Borman throughout the years. Skill wise, he is excellent diagnosing and repairing. Turn around time -very good. He continues to be our mechanic of choice. It would be helpful however, if he accepted credit cards.

 + -1 moreNo story to tell. Borman is the only mechanic I use for drive train purposes. I broke my Detroit Locker over the winter and new I needed to replace it. Mike took a look to confirm it was junk. I prefer to give Mike the parts and have him install them, but this time, I did not have the parts to do so. I had him purchase and install 4.10 gears front and back along with a new Detroit Locker in the rear. He noticed that my tie rod end was broken (I knew it was, but was being lazy) and replaced it for me. I had some tune-up parts sitting in my truck and he threw those in as well. Mike is a very competent mechanic. He hates diagnosing problems. Loves it when a person brings him a bunch of parts and says and quot;Put them onand quot;. He will always tell you if you bought the wrong part. When it comes to four wheel drive stuff, there is no one better.
Description of Work: Changed Rear Differential. Installed Detroit Locker Installed 4.10 Gears front and back Replaced Axle Components broken by previous Detroit Locker that had shattered inside pumpkin. Engine Tune-up Front Brakes Replaced Tie Rod End
