This review is for the first step in my journey to getting implants, and I will leave update reviews at each sequential step. I called Anchorage Midtown Dental to see about getting some implants. The receptionist who answered my initial call was very professional and empathetic. She scheduled me an appointment for a consult to speak with Dr. Guy, the leading DDS in Alaska for performing implant dentistry. She also sent me a secure link which allowed me to do the necessary paperwork at home prior to getting to their downtown office. There was no waiting at all when I got to my appointment. In speaking with Dr. Guy, I found him to be extremely knowledgeable, easy to understand and a straight shooter. Though extremely busy, Dr. Guy and his assistant took the time to answer each of my questions and concerns. Considering the scope of work that needs to be done, this was a very important and welcome addition to the consultation which, by the way, was free. As noted above, I will continue to update this review as things progress. Given what I've seen thus far, I am looking forward to this next part of my life's journey, and I have every reason to believe that the good folks at Anchorage Midtown Dental can help me see it to a positive outcome. Stay tuned...

Exam, but I was told it would cost over $400. For 3 teeth. I was told to come in at 2:30 which was later changed and I was asked to come in at 11:00 which I did. I also kept the 2:30 appointment but they told me that they would need $430.00 because my insurance wouldn’t pay for it in October because that’s the month Medicaid and Medicare wouldn’t pay for anything after that.

I just am getting home from a root canal on a very painful canine with IV sedation. My high metabolism and body make IV sedation difficult to achieve, even real general anesthesiologists for in hospital surgeries have been shocked and made notes that the stuff does work on me right and it takes a ton to keep me out and I wake fully alert the moment they stop administering. I made this clear to the original dentist I saw and was assured it wouldn't be a problem and they understood and would make sure not to proceed until I was comfortable and where I needed to be. So I paid the 1400 up front for IV knowing I wouldn't be able to fix any of my other desperate teeth until July because the IV sedation ate up all insurance and care credit. My appointment was this morning. I just got home less than an hour ago. Do I seem even slightly medicated? Because I'm not. Never was. Through entire procedure I repeatedly said I was not sedated and fully alert and in pain. And was ignored 98% of the time and the issue was never fixed. I had to sit through the root canal with pain and wide awake. Clearly worth 1400 right? I could have driven my family home from appointment. Absolutely zero medication effects. This was a COMPLETE waste. I've had other dentists actually IV sedate me as it has to be done for every single procedure I need and was completely different and actually sedated me. I don't remember those appointments. I clearly know every moment of this appointment. I was NOT properly sedated. I am 110% awake, alert, and feel no different than had I been given zero meds today. So clearly your "IV sedation" wasn't performed as well as it should have been and I may as well have saved money and just let them do it with me awake and feeling it all, because that's exactly how it went but I got to spend 1400 for the experience. I will never be a sucker for that office and their fancy new Samsung Tv's and overexpensive decor etc. I dont care if you've got a 60 inch flat screen in every procedure room. Thanks for having me help pay for it though just to get screwed on the sedation and be fully alert. Truly appreciated. Could care less about your tv screens. Especially when, if the service I paid for was actually done properly for a patient outside of the norm, I wouldn't have been noticing the tv in the first place. Fool me once I guess. I'm so upset I can't even fix my other front teeth before insurance reset in July and they won't last that long all because I spent 1400 bucks for the IV that was useless. Nah, I will definitely be heading to a dentist that pays attention during a procedure when you tell them it hurts and you're wide awake and alert etc. One that lives up to and follows the agreed upon plan and issues. One that cares more for the patient than a fancy office. And will be sharing my experience as much as possible. Maybe can save someone else the misery.

I got a crown and old feeling replacement. So far so good. The only thing I'd suggest is to offer a lip balm to help with dry lips. (Especially when procedure takes more then an hour)

Dr. Tudor communicates thoroughly  and does detailed work so you can leave with confidence. He is very mellow and not too chatty, but friendly enough to be concerned and get to know you and the pain you are experiencing.

I called mid-morning after shopping around for a new office to restore my filling which came out the afternoon prior. I had a bad filling put in two months ago, and a follow up diagnostic that sent me home without any explanation of to why I was in pain (at a different dental office). Then my filling came out and I was left in even more pain and exposed pulp.
I'm an uninsured 20-something college student with a pretty limited income, so the work that I have done on my teeth is mostly preventative and I have to save for each visit so I can pay in full. I was wary when I called to even get a foot in the door because the focused evaluation and x-rays would cost me $202.00, but Candace at the front desk said I could sign a patient release form and the doctors would examine my x-ray from my previous clinic cost-free while I got my budget sorted.
I called back and in several hours they had me seated in a chair and numbed up. They filled my cavity and I expressed concern that I would need to wait in order to have the cavity filled because I could not afford the total cost in full. My dental assistant worked some magic and I was able to get my filling done and agree to pay 60% of the rest unpaid bill by the end of the month. PHEW! They were concerned about the health of the tooth, and saving it from further decay and made me feel taken care of.
When it comes to service, the Dr. Tudor was very friendly and thorough. He was constantly communicating with the assistant which made me feel at ease (because in the last place I had this tooth filled, there was little to no dialogue). It also gives the patient a heads up on what's going on. They played Pandora and gave me a choice for tunes, and numbed me VERY thoroughly in the right areas so that I could still speak.
When it comes to pricing, they're about average. The filling cost me $272.00. Again, being a college student who works part-time, it was a little steep for my budget, but worth it when it comes to good oral health. They also offer Credit Care.
Overall, I'm very pleased with my experience here. Everyone is working together, and you can see good, positive support between the staff. I will be coming back to get regular cleanings and an extraction, and  turn this into "the one", after doing a lot of back-and-forth.

Great people at the front desk.... Dr. Guy was really nice and I was really impressed - they have all new, state of the art equipment and most importantly it was painless.

I most recently visited for a crown prep, and to get a temporary crown. The visit took longer than I expected, as the tooth was in a hard-to-reach area, but I would not have wanted them to rush it! I most dread getting the shot of anesthetic for a visit like this. One thing I particularly like about Dr. Guy is that he is very skilled at administering anesthetic, and I really appreciate that!
